Solid but not special resort

The newly renovated resort is very nice. The rooms are a bit dark (dark woods/colors) but nicely decorated and feel brand new. We were disappointed that we were assigned a room on the side of the resort, far from the beach and with barely a "sliver" view of the ocean (we were confirmed for an upgrade from a partial ocean view room to an ocean view room). The view from the room was marginal at best - nothing special - mainly a small green space and the road that the maintenance team at the resort used frequently to drive to the dumpster that we could also see. We told the reservation agent that we were celebrating our 30th anniversary and my husband's 60th birthday, had never been to Maui and really wanted a special view room. I do have to say that although this was a big disappointment for us, the rest of our stay was an 8/10. Staff were very friendly (not as refined as at the Four Seasons where we ate several times) - but very accommodating and friendly. The pool areas and grounds were well maintained and manicured. The beach was nicely maintained. We appreciated the self-park option so that we didn't have to wait for valet parkers to get our car every time we wanted to leave the resort to eat or shop. The fitness center could have been bigger given the size of the resort - but the views were nice and the equipment was relatively new. If you're looking for a solid (but not stellar) Maui resort with very large rooms (small suites) in an excellent location and that was newly renovated, the Fairmont is a good choice. If you want something extra special, head north to the Four Seasons or further north to the Ritz.

This was our 3 year delayed trip (Covid, then Lahaina Fire) IN 2020 it was to be our 50th Anniversary Trip Celebration. Finally made it. Married 53 years now. Initially we wanted to stay the entire 14 days at Kei Lai, but price increases have forced us to do a VRBO first, and the last 5 days at Fairmont. In the past we have done 10 days at Fairmont Kei Lani. The lobby transformation was incredible, an we noticed staff a bit more friendly than in the past. We have previously stayed in rooms 522, 301, 606, 404, 301, 354, 504 and probably a couple others but our stay in 610 was lovely-still got to see some of the sunset with a great view of the Ocean. We had poolside drinks and ate at the pool side restaurant and did happy hour at Ko. I wish I could figure out how I could stay at Kei Lani for more days.... Always relaxing, always a beautiful view and I like the space the suite offers. The Hawaiian culture addition was really nice.

We were there for 5 nights of relaxation. We loved the newly renovated lobby and the rooms were in beautiful order. The new cultural center was a wonderful addition where we were able to participate in the language class and meeting with the resident artist, Dale. Just beautiful pieces of work

We left another 5 star hotel on a different island due to having a poor experience. We knew we could trust Fairmont and didn’t hesitate to book without doing any research. The newly renovated rooms are spacious and ultra clean. The service is fantastic and everyone is very friendly and helpful. Beach is short walk away. Amenities are plentiful (and convenient, like the Malama Market) but the only short coming is the gym. It’s on the smaller side and lacking some equipment that I’ve found other Fairmont to have. Overall, it’s a fantastic hotel and we would 100% stay again.
