Just returned from 2 nights at Mercure Haymarket. What a gem. Reception staff were amazing.... really helpful and friendly. Room was equipped with everything I needed and I slept soundly both nights. Quiet neighbourhood but just a short walk from all major attractions. I will definately return.

Air conditioning did not work and was going to bed when realised so too late to ask reception. Breakfast was too busy with a large party of American guests. We were asked to sit at the bar as no table available, yet the next couple were taken to a table. They were American so I guess they were given priority. Not impressed and very disappointed with the experience.

Convenient but pricey

The hotel was conveniently located for us on this trip. The room was very comfortable: quiet, good black-out, clean, and everything worked (though the wi-fi connection was unsteady). The lounge was bright and appealing. Breakfast was not value for money (we did not have any cooked food), and was unhygienically laid out (e.g. bread and pastries not screened, so that people brushed across them with clothing). Two aspects of the food offer surprised us: no porridge at breakfast (in Scotland!), and no food available in the afternoon. For the price we paid for the room. we expected more!

The best hotel we found in our entire UK trip , travelled in march ( off season ) with family . Decent sized rooms , 5* for cleanliness and service.. The staff at the reception was extremely helpful and courteous , would like to thank Ms Sonia and Mr Apoorva for all the help The location is very near to the castle and also has a paid parking just a few blocks aways...the hotel has an unloading area so you can unload your luggage easily if travelling by car The rooms are quite spacious with sofa beds in majority of rooms

Great location and very nice staff

We stayed one night on our first ever visit to Edinburgh. The hotel is very well located in walking distance to central Edinburgh and Haymarket train station. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and our room (310) was spacious, cozy and comfortable.
