People were lovely. I am gluten intolerant. Breakfast very good. Evening menu sub standard. Two choices one not available. I am 86 years old I had a privilege room that was the furthest room in the hotel lugging my suitcase, not fun. Shower over bath difficult to keep the water from going on the floor. Towel rail loose. Bed comfortable.

Dear Neil H., Thank you for your comprehensive review. Unfortunately, all our privilege rooms are at the back of the hotel and can be a trek. As a regular guest, I assumed(I should not have) you would know this, I am sorry for my failure. As you know, the majority of our rooms are showers over baths but we do have a few shower only rooms, please let us know next time you are staying so we can accommodate this need for you. We have just had a menu change and were having difficulties getting the right ingredients in, once again, we are sorry for this. Warm regards Jeff

Reception staff extremely polite. Room was a good size but dated and certainly not 4* in my opinion. Bathroom functional but extremely dated. Group of 7 builders smoking weed in the car park as I arrived. Breakfast was fine. An entirely average stay but no issues minus the group smoking weed

I stayed at this hotel due to doing my training for getting a guide dog. I spent Monday to Friday and then Tuesday to Friday the following week here. I will break the review down into sections to make it easy. Room I stayed in room 18 which overlooked the "secret garden" I'm unsure if this is used or not but its a nice little space. My room had a big bed which was two singles pushed together to form on huge, and i mean huge bed. I couldn't feel the gap in the middle like on some push together beds which was nice. The pillows were nice and plentiful and the mattress i would say was firm but very comfortable. The room contained a desk and chair incase you wanted to do any work and a decent size tv. The room really could have done with a comfy arm chair to sit in so you didn't always have to sit on the bed. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the room and there was plenty of lighting. The room also had a full size mirror which was part of a "wardrobe" to hang clothes etc Downsides to my room The only plug socket was on the wall opposite the bed, not great if you wanted to charge the phone at night. No drawers in the room for underwear etc The bath room was very dated, The taps didn't mix the water so washing hands was difficult as you would burn your left hand and your right would be cold. The bathroom had no steam extraction system so the bathroom was wet for hours after a shower. The shower did however get nice and hot and have great pressure. And shampoo etc is provided (obviously a plus) Room 4 out of 5 Food We ate in the restaurant every evening and managed to sample most if not all of the "S" included items which you can have in the room rate. I will add a few favourites however the menu did just change. Crispy squid starter was amazing If i am been honest i don't recall been served a bad meal or one i was unhappy with which is nice. The service on an evening was always friendly however sometimes was a little on the slow side. Breakfast Our server Nickie was amazing and a credit to the hotel. She couldn't do enough to help us with our various visual impairments. She made breakfast a stress-free and joyous part of the day of me and my 2 friends. The food at breakfast was very good, There is a massive range of food and drink available from full English to pastry's and continental meats etc. The flat white coffee was very good and set me up for the day Food and breakfast service 5/5 Staff Usually you come across one or two staff members who just don't seem to want to be there but in the nearly 2 weeks we spent there i didn't come across a single member of staff who wasn't friendly, polite and willing to help. The staff really are very good. Big shout out to the new guy who started on the bar last week, He seemed nervous but did a great job. 5/5 Grounds Yes this hotel is built close to a very busy road however on a night you don't really hear it all that much, You still see the wildlife. The hotel has lots of greenspace you can sit in and chill and there is plenty of parking Fitness centre We used the pool, hot tub and steamroom and they were all very pleasant, The gent on reception was happy to help and they give towels so you dont need a room towel with you. The pool was closed on one night in the second week due to a temperature issue but that was promptly getting fixed. This was free to use for paying guests. WIFI This was free to use and easy to connect to with no password, It performed better during the day then on a night were it was hit and miss. I managed to watch YouTube and livestreams between the WIFI and my mobile network which uses the 3 network. Cost This I cannot comment on but what i can say is this hotel is definitely nicer then the budget hotels and even some more expensive ones i have stayed in.

Friendly staff and amazing breakfast 😋 at this lovely hotel in peaceful surroundings. Nickie and staff were so helpful today and a superb hot, fresh, plentiful breakfast cooked by Katie. Reception staff were great and the late night bar tender too. A joy to find, keep up the good work ! 👏
