Dirty room, covered in cobwebs, especially in the lights and bed side lamps looked like they never get cleaned.Dirty vents, air conditioner bearly functioning due to dirty filter. Stains on bed linen, stains on carpet, stains on curtains. Patched paintwork, poorly done, peeling paint, chipped and stained bath, grotty grout. Most unappealing hotel room with strange lay out. Most definitely not 4 star rated. Only positive was nice restaurant staff and quality of the meals.
A bit run down, poor room service and boring restaurant. Same buffet night in, night out. And expensive. $40.00 per head. Many guests went out and brought in take away. Glass sliding doors very dirty. Very poor room service, had to ask many times for extra tea bags. Water was not replaced on the last night. Hotel very dated and needs a revamp. Not impressed!
Wow where do I start. Arrived at check in counter to find that they could not located my booking. There was no traces of my booking in their system at all. I showed them my confirmation e-mail (this was booked directly from Accor Hotels not a third party provider) that was booked 4 days prior and they were stunned. I asked if they still have rooms available and the response was well I guess we need to find you a room very rude indeed. Got to room and it was not the Courtyard |Superior room that I had booked for $400. It was not explained to me that I wouldn't be getting this type of room and was still on the impression that the room I was given was for this rate. The room its self was very old and tired. There electrical outlets were coming of the wall, it was very dark and even the retractable clothes line in the shower was broken a major hazards if we had kids. There was also no hotel information booklet nothing in the room and after asking 3 times for this to be delivered we never received it. I had to even walk back to reception to get the dinner menu which I was then directed to go to the restaurant myself to find out. There was also issues of the air-conditioner not working in room 159. Again twice we had to ask to have this looked at and finally someone came to have a look at it for about 2 mins who rang or pretended to ring someone to be informed the air conditioner was not working. This was clearly a known issue and would be compensated for free breakfast. Oh and we were offered a pedestal fan if we wanted it. The room did have a ceiling fan so not sure what a pedestal fan would of done. Then came the issues of the pillows. There were only 2 very soft pillows on the bed no extra pillows were offered in the room at all. I have never stayed in a place where they offer only 1 pillow per person. So again I went to reception and requested for extra pillows and was told they would bring them to my room I said no I will wait for you to bring them. 20-30 mins later still waiting at reception I finally got my extra pillows. I then asked exactly how much I would be paid for the room and it was going to be $369 and have free breakfast. I said I wasn't planning on going to breakfast and he said that he will take that amount off from the room rate. I said that this was not good enough and will be speaking to the manager at check out. During check out we were waived the dinner cost. But I still felt this was not good enough. Do not stay at this hotel.
The amenities and room were all fine and we found the town and surrounding area really interesting - sunset at Ubirr was magical. The hotel buffets were very spendy so we didn't eat there. (We had a booking glitch that took almost an hour to deal with at check out - 1st woman agreed to refund us but manager and managers manager said no, so we paid for our "free" child. Seems like the hotel is part of a big, impersonal, rigid corporation.)
We had a superior room on the first floor which is fine if you are fit because the hotel has no guest lift. It also has a strange car park layout which meant a trek to get your bag to your room. However, the room was very nice, a good size and well appointed. As a bonus it overlooked the pool. The pool was good. The restaurant was large and lacked a bit of atmosphere but the food was good quality and reasonably priced. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.
