I chose to stay here because they were offering reasonable rates at a time when most CBD hotel prices were insane. The mixed reviews worried me a bit, but I was very happy with my room - clean and bright, simply but adequately furnished, comfortable bed, all I could ask for really. Admittedly I think I was given one of the larger rooms, but I would be happy with a smaller room if it was of a similar standard. I didn't get to use the restaurant/bar - my schedule didn't fit with breakfast, and it was closed when I returned before 9pm on my second night. I didn't use the pool either (cool weather) - it looked functional rather than fun, but it was clean and hey, it's a pool! There were some renovations in progress but they didn't trouble me, there was a bit of noise on my first morning but nothing before 8am. It's a little way out of the CBD but it's an easy tram ride, I walked from the Skybus terminal in less than half an hour. I expect I'll be back.
For Le Club Accor hotel members, I would highly recommend that you all not to stay at this hotel as after your stays your points will not be credited into your account. Make sure to check your account statements every time! I have contacted numerous times Accor hotels customer service and they have informed me that an email was send to the Mercure North Melbourne to credit the points into my account and yet the hotel still have not even credit my points into my account. So, for all Le Club Accor members avoid this hotel as this hotel will happily take your payment from you but will never credit the necessary points into your account. Besides that, this hotel is very old and the beds are very soft you can literally feel yourself sinking down! What's more there is no lift from the car park to the hotel lobby, so this hotel is not disable friendly at all! In short, avoid this hotel!
Dear jchew42, I do apologise for inconvenience of not being credited with your points. Till date we have not received any email regarding the situation with your points. I would recommend you contact the hotel directly for the points to be credited. Other guests who have faced a similar issue have had their points credited with 48 hours. With regards to our guests requiring wheel chair access, we recommend they utilise the main hotel entrance which provides direct access to the lift. I would also like to advise that the hotel has commenced a full refurbishment. We hope to have all rooms completed by the end of the year. I do hope you stay with us again and experience our newly refurbished rooms. Best Regards, Wayne Woods General Manager
This was the second time we had stayed at the Mercure Nth Melb. We chose it because it was easy to get to from City Link and we could park our car safely. There is tram route into the CBD 50m from the hotel which was really handy. The interior of the hotel is a bit of a let down though. Rooms seem dated and old.
We were pleasantly surprised when we stayed at the Mecure North Melbourne. The hotel is conveniently located and near the Victoria markets and has easy access to the city. The room was clean and had a very comfortable bed with a comfy lounge. The cost of the accommodation was very good value for money and a lot less than most other options in the area. We would definitely stay again if back in Melbourne.
