We booked through Accor an apartment with a king size bed. When we arrived we were allocated an apartment with a queen size bed. When we complained at reception Jeannie could not have been more unhelpful or rude. She told us there were only two apartments with king size beds and it was all Accor's fault because they had been told about this. Throughout our stay we got the same rude treatment from this receptionist. Another more senior staff member did move us after 3 days to an apartment with a king size bed but Jeannie still remained unhelpful over this move.
Stayed in a three bedroom sea view apartment. Absolutely fabulous. Spacious, clean, tastefully furnished, fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, one with spa, comfortable beds, balcony with out door furniture, washing machine and dryer. The most spectacular apartment with views to match. Close to ferry and bus stops. Close to an IGA supermarket.
Unit was clean but should not have been in the letting pool. One of the bifold doors to the laundry nook was missing so when the washer was in use it was very noisy in the small unit as the bathroom/laundry opens directly onto the lounge room and the unit is completely open plan so there is no door between the two rooms. There is also no door to close off to the bedroom. The unit was really a studio not a 1 bed apartment. There were also a few small tiles missing of the front of the bath wall. The TV in the lounge was barely bigger than a PC monitor which was both annoying and disappointing.
WOnderful mini-break for husbands birthday. Room well appointed with glorious view. Loved the room itself....beautiful and everything clean and up to date. Within walking distance to fabulous restaurants and the local grocery shop. Magnetic Island is a favourite of ours and the Grand Mercure Apts always welcoming and just the ticket!!
Room had awesome views of Nelly Bay and back to Townsville. Room was lovely and quiet, short walk to the IGA and coffee shop. Bathroom being open on all sides was originally romantic but soon being exposed in the bathroom all the time was a bit odd. Initially upon arriving at Reception did come across a completely disinterested staff member - not a great first impression.
The location of this hotel is great being so close to ferry and everything you need was inside the apartment if it had been clean we would have been very happy. I needed to clean the bath before i would put my daughter in it the plug was black with mild and the oven was full of food. The fridge had been quickly wiped over and by no means clean. The floor wasn't clean. The only thing i would class as hotel standard clean was the bed linen and towels. Needless to say will not stay at this hotel again.
Big apartment, great view ocean side. Modern and everything u need. We were there before, during & after a small category 1 cyclone and the staff didn't once contact us to advise, no warning, no follow up. Other negatives, only queen sized bed and room could of done with a rug - fairly sparse furnishings.
The accommodation was OK, however, the surrounding wildlife was amazing. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which we though would be facing the ocean, however, it was facing Nelly Bay. The view was still good, but not what we expected. If you want an ocean front you need to book a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment. We were really annoyed when we asked for a late checkout, only whilst we waited for the boat and they wanted to charge an extra $50. I find this price gouging and quite offensive.
