« Edinburgh mercure »

Hotel is in fantastic position on Princes Street giving opportunity to return with shopping or break for a restful cuppa at any time. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Rooms are clean and warm and view of Christmas festivities and the castle is fabulous.

« Nice central hotel »

Located on Princes Street, this hotel is right in the middle of the new town shopping area and the old town is just minutes away. I had a top floor room overlooking Princes Street, and the view from the balcony was amazing - from Arthurs Seat to the left, over to the castle on the right. The room was very comfortable, and the shower was excellent. The only issue was that with the window and balcony door closed, a very small amount of external noise (cars, trains, bagpipes!) could be heard. I did sleep OK though, despite the small amount of external noise. There was no internal noise to be heard at all when I was in my room - good! I'd certainly stay here again.

« Relaxing city break »

Fantastic central Princes Street location with amazing views over Scott Memorial and the old city. I think you'd struggle to get better views from anywhere else. Good friendly helpful staff who really made us feel welcome and looked after us. Nice clean rooms. Will visit again.

« Once and never again »

-to expensive - no aircondition - furniture are outdated - bath was not like on the hotel´s homepage description - from more than two hotel guests, reception is overwhelmed By the name "Mercure" you expect something comfortable....and no disappointment. There are several hotels in the city, which are more comfortable und less expensive. Unfortunately they were all booked out. So I choose the Mercure-Hotel. Great Mistake.

« Superb view from our room. Very cheerful, friendly and efficient staff. »

Our greeting at reception was warm and friendly. Our room had a direct view of the park - fabulous. The wifi and tv were top notch. The bed (normal double size) was very comfortable with excellent sheets, duvet and pillows. The bathroom was the only letdown. The toilet flush was poor; someone had changed door and wall fittings leaving obvious marks where the previous ones had been; the shower was a feeble offering; some bath seal and grouting had been redone making the rest look shabby. The restaurant was fabulous for breakfast but the evening meal didn't quite live up to expectation. The lamb dish and the goats cheese and rocket salad with beetroot were very good. The crispy duck salad was fairly nondescript and the fish cake certainly wasn't freshly made, nor was it tasty. It was solid stodgy and neither were worth almost £7 by any means. The house wine at £20 was quite frankly a ripoff. Just a young wine without flavour, probably £5 quality in a supermarket. Overall, we had a great stay though. Just being picky. And we loved Edinburgh. The sun shone for us even though there was an icy wind which would take quite a bit of getting used to.

« Great Stay »

I absolutely loved my stay in the Mercure Edinburgh City Hotel on Princes Street. The Location is simply perfect. Right on Princes Street, which looks onto the Princes Street Garden, the Scott Monument, the National Gallery, and the Edinburgh Castle up the hill. The castle was only a ten minute (maximum) walk away, and there are plenty of places to eat close by. Also as a single woman travelling alone, I felt very safe and comfortable. I stayed for two nights. The room was very clean and neat. The staff was friendly and welcoming at breakfast, and very helpful when asking for help on getting around town. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend if they were looking for a place to stay in Edinburgh.

« Second visit to Mercure Princes Street Edinburgh »

Good location and staff friendly and helpful. Watch out for the addition of a random 10% to restaurant bills. This didn't happen on our previous visit. When queried the waiter consulted with supervisor and this charge was removed from final bill.

« Good Central Hotel »

Great place to stay. Close to transport links. Clean ,tidy. Breakfast v. good. Limited evening meals but v.good. Only downside no drawers in room for underwear, socks t-shirts etc.so we had to live out a bag for 5 days. Good value for money.
