« A perfect spot to stay for a weekend break »

A wonderful hotel for a short break , lovely views to the castle and Edinburgh old town. Situated on Princes Street and all the shops in walking distance and pubs and clubs on your doorstep. The city buses and trams run outside and city tour buses just across the road A perfect spot

« Perfect location »

The hotel has a perfect location and is quiet. The breakfast was very good, but the furniture in the bedroom was a little too big for the space available. Perhaps the room could shortly be due fro a refurbishment.

« Lovely Central hotel »

Nice hotel, good location on Princes Street close to air link bus stops and shops and plenty of restaurants and sites. Not as modern as most Mecure hotels i have stayed in, and we were informed upon arrival that we were the last ones to get a room, with many more to arrive after us, due to frequent overbooking they routinely carry out. We ended up in a twin room rather than a double, but would have been very disappointed to have had to go somewhere else given our late arrival time.

« our edinburgh trip »

location of hotel is excellent for exploring Edinburgh. Room was very comfortable with a view across the Gardens to the Castle. Breakfast was a good start to the day. Bar/ Dining area was comfortable but perhaps a little tired looking. due to a rugby international the previous Saturday, the bar had not been replenished. We would certainly use the hotel again

« mencure overnight stay »

had a really enjoyable stay here, booked an evening meal, a great choice of dishes on the menu and the food was great, also had a breakfast really good, and a nice reasonably priced bar, we had a great time.

« Handy Hotel »

Princess st hotel. Had stayed before when Ramada but has definitely gone downhill. Stained carpets in bedrooms, tea/coffee not replaced daily. Carpets in the bar restaurant area covered in black tape to hide rips & tears. Menu limited. Only good thing bout this area is view. Great views of castle & princess street. Public toilets dirty & smelly. Breakfast ok but cold.

« Excellent staff, rooms 'a bit long in the tooth' »

Excellent location, excellent staff, this hotel is let down by the age and condition of the rooms along with the thin walls. Not a wink of sleep due to neighbouring guest having their television up way too loud. Loud enough to hear every word Donald Trump had to say during the news segment!

« Location is brilliant »

Even though we stayed at new year, it was slightly overpriced for the standard of hotel. The décor is extremely dated and tired all through the hotel, but overall it's clean. I'm sure the front bedrooms have fantastic views, but unfortunately we booked late so were at the back overlooking the air conditioning units. Breakfast is a buffet and became 'survival of the fittest' at busy times as they kept running out of food items. In hindsight we should have ordered breakfast to the bedroom. Overall our stay was fine and the staff were pleasant. The location is brilliant so I would stay there again, and hopefully there's a refurbishment scheduled soon.

« Plan to return! »

The two of us were very impressed with this hotel. Fantastic location on Princes Street, short walk from the train station and with everything geared towards a very comfortable stay - decent size clean rooms, firm beds, lovely towels, better than average breakfast and very helpful staff. Having stayed at other establishments in the past we plan to stay at this hotel should we be visiting Edinburgh in the future.
