« Excellent staff, rooms 'a bit long in the tooth' »

Excellent location, excellent staff, this hotel is let down by the age and condition of the rooms along with the thin walls. Not a wink of sleep due to neighbouring guest having their television up way too loud. Loud enough to hear every word Donald Trump had to say during the news segment!

« Location is brilliant »

Even though we stayed at new year, it was slightly overpriced for the standard of hotel. The décor is extremely dated and tired all through the hotel, but overall it's clean. I'm sure the front bedrooms have fantastic views, but unfortunately we booked late so were at the back overlooking the air conditioning units. Breakfast is a buffet and became 'survival of the fittest' at busy times as they kept running out of food items. In hindsight we should have ordered breakfast to the bedroom. Overall our stay was fine and the staff were pleasant. The location is brilliant so I would stay there again, and hopefully there's a refurbishment scheduled soon.

« Plan to return! »

The two of us were very impressed with this hotel. Fantastic location on Princes Street, short walk from the train station and with everything geared towards a very comfortable stay - decent size clean rooms, firm beds, lovely towels, better than average breakfast and very helpful staff. Having stayed at other establishments in the past we plan to stay at this hotel should we be visiting Edinburgh in the future.

« Most excellent and very central »

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my teenage daughter and mother. It is right on Princes Street between the famous Jenners Department store and Marks and Spencer. What more could you want. As the hotel is so central and nearly opposite Waverley train station, no extra transportation was necessary to see the main sites of Edinburgh. Within easy walking distance is the Castle, National Gallery of Scotland, the National Museum of Scotland, The Royal Mile and Holywood Palace. Our room had a view of the Christmas markets and The Scottish Monument as that is opposite. I highly recommend this hotel and will certainly be visiting again. The room was spotlessly clean and the beds extremely comfortable. The buffet breakfast had everything you could ask for, delicious. On the first night we ate in The Brasserie Restaurant, again nothing could be faulted even though my Mother is a diary intolerant vegetarian and my daughter is a very fussy eater. A marvelous and super fantastical hotel.

« Edinburgh mercure »

Hotel is in fantastic position on Princes Street giving opportunity to return with shopping or break for a restful cuppa at any time. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Rooms are clean and warm and view of Christmas festivities and the castle is fabulous.

« Nice central hotel »

Located on Princes Street, this hotel is right in the middle of the new town shopping area and the old town is just minutes away. I had a top floor room overlooking Princes Street, and the view from the balcony was amazing - from Arthurs Seat to the left, over to the castle on the right. The room was very comfortable, and the shower was excellent. The only issue was that with the window and balcony door closed, a very small amount of external noise (cars, trains, bagpipes!) could be heard. I did sleep OK though, despite the small amount of external noise. There was no internal noise to be heard at all when I was in my room - good! I'd certainly stay here again.

« Relaxing city break »

Fantastic central Princes Street location with amazing views over Scott Memorial and the old city. I think you'd struggle to get better views from anywhere else. Good friendly helpful staff who really made us feel welcome and looked after us. Nice clean rooms. Will visit again.
