The gentleman on reception allowed us to check in early without charge, which was very much appreciated. The room was small but comfortable with adjustable heating. The room had a musty smell and there were some questionable stains on the carpet. The shower was good but there was hardly any body soap in the dispenser and the tissue box in the bathroom was empty. Overall a good stay which could have been improved with more attention to detail by housekeeping.

Good, central, location...but small, "crowded", room

The positives... / Pleasant check-in team. / Good sound proofing to the street outside. / Clean room. / Good sized bathroom. / Nespresso machine. / Complimentary bottles of water x 2. The negatives... / Compact room, even though it was a more expensive Privilege Room. Are standard rooms even smaller? / Poor sound proofing between rooms: I could hear chat from the occupants of the room next door. / Horrible small, uncomfotable, pillows. / No bedside power points. / As the room is compact, crowded, there's no comfortable way to watch TV, except from the bed at an angle. / The Nespresso machine can make two sizes of drink, large and small, but the large cups are too big for the machine and the small cups are too small for the larger drink. If you choose to have a large coffee be ready to quickly swap out the small cup 2-3 times! / The room doors aren't soft-close so be prepared for door banging as guests arrive and leave.

Don't offer a food credit in the booking price is you can't fulfil it

Booking included £30 credit for food which was appealing as would arrive mid afternoon after a couple of hours travelling. However, when I tried to order food at 3pm I was advised that food "wasn't available as the chef didn't start until 6pm". Never had an instance where a city centre hotel could not offer any food in afternoon - I ordered a ham sandwich! Dos something as basic as a sandwich require a chef? So to have a food credit in my booking and have to leave the hotel and go and buy food elsewhere is well below expectation. Apart from that my stay was fine but I wouldn't be back.
