Staff were all very helpful and made the 2 nights enjoyable. Room service was good and food excellent, especially the breakfast which runs from 5am so enabled me to eat properly before a whole day at UEA pool coaching. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is that the hotel looks a bit tired and scruffy in its decor and things like the carpet in the bedroom being all rucked where the underlay has rotted I suspect. The bath was very worn and slippery too The bed was very comfortable enabling a good night's sleep Overall a very pleasant stay
Room facilities ok but wallpaper peeling off walls & generally shabby Waiter in restaurant requires training - food order/wine order completely wrong (did not write down) & would not accept wrong wine on the 2nd attempt - this was sorted by Nikki Breakfast was not hot the following morning - ran out of eggs so a long wait - was told Lea & Perrins was not available in the hotel!! Not a good nights sleep due to cooling? fans outside of bedroom window going all night. Overall not a good stay & would not use again for this purpose
Carol, I know we've communicated already but I would repeat my apology, particularly regarding the young waiter who let us down that evening. I am delighted that Nikki rescued the situation so well and I have thanked her for her efforts. Apologies for your disturbed night and slow eggs I rather hoped that breakfast might be the time to recover your stay. I would be delighted to offer you a discount to return Carol, the opportunity would be appreciated.
I ignored the iffy reviews on Trip Advisor for this hotel, as I though it was a Mercure and it couldn't really be that bad. I was truly wrong. The hotel is on an industrial estate adjacent to the Norwich ring road, which is two lanes in either direction. This would be fine, if the hotel had double glazing, which it doesn't. I spent the night listening to police/ambulance sirens, when I wasn't being woken by drunk people making lots of noise in the corridor/slamming doors. The room, although mainly clean, looked nothing like the modern/refurbished one on the Accor Website. The carpet had dark wear marks and had wear wrinkles. The skirting boards were very scruffy and in need of repainting. The shower looked like it was from the 1970s! The car park was dimly lit and I was worried that my car wouldn't be there in the morning. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.
Sorry we disappointed you Claire. I will certainly investigate your complaints regarding your room. Double glazing would be delightful I agree. Yours is not a typical experience which will probably not make you feel any better...........
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was acceptable (the coffee was good). The hotel is let down by the dated and mis-matched decor, shabby appearance, an uncomfortable bed, and a lack of climate control. The sheets didn't fit the bed, and there were stray hairs on the surfaces upon arrival.
Hopefully I'm not too much of a Dinosaur but I appreciate we are part way through a refurb program. Thank you for the lovely comments about my team, I agree they are always so positive and helpful. All our beds are brand new so yours is an unusual criticism regarding comfort. I am so sorry about that and for the stray hairs.
Hotel was great easy to get all around Norwich The staff were very helpful and friendly stayed two very comfortable nights breakfast on both mornings set us up for the day. will definitely be back soon marks out of 10/10 thank's
Stayed 3 nights over the weekend on a cheap deal to see Norwich and surroundings. Uninspiring business hotel on a dual carriage way 10 minutes out of the centre but ideal for the purpose. A new silent air conditioner helped with the exterior noise. Really heartening to see well trained highly motivated young bright eyed and bushy tailed products of the local comprehensive schools at all level. We had exceptional service. The TV was fixed in 10 minutes and a fridge provided in the same timescale without charge. We like this chain.
Staff were great in the main, however the bar was slow, as new member of staff was left on own to cope with several orders. Evening meal food in the restaurant was lovely. The hotel purports itself to be 4 star, but I disagree, it is in need of some TLC and I don't really see the difference in the classic vs privilege room. Apart from a bigger bed. I would imagine ok for one night, we stayed two, just average really, I had higher expectations.
Thank you so much for your kind comments regarding my team here, I am very proud of them. I would always welcome some investment, like any GM , but we are a confident four star hotel sitting comfortably with our local market. Sorry we didn't meet your expectations but We would welcome another opportunity to try. Thanks again for the review.
Let me start by saying that the staff really does what they can for you. But as for the rest i do have some remarks: -No snacks at the bar; Although they could find me a bag of crisps the first day they couldnt offer anything the next. -Choice of breakfast items; The breakfast was average but expensive for what you can chose from, nothing like cheese, ham or variety of bread, just plain bread and a toaster and english breakfast items. -Room; clean, good beds!!! good shower. -Location; depends on why you're there, its just a 5 minute drive to the city center or the airport. Around the hotel there is a Mall and fast food. All in all not bad, but the Bar snacks and breakfast didn't live up to my expectations for a hotel in the Accor Hotels group.
Thank you for being so complimentary about our staff, I really do appreciate that. And thank you also for your kind comments regarding our rooms, beds and shower. Sorry we disappointed you with our breakfast selection. I suspect that there is a real disconnect with some of our European guests. This is one meal we do very differently! I will fee back your comments though because we do need to appeal to all nations. Thanks again for taking the time to review us.
Basically ok. Positives to mention were the restaurant for dinner, but less so breakfast that was not as fresh or tasty or value as any other Mercure. Toilet not working and could not move to aircon room.
Emma I am so sorry we failed to delight you in every respect during your stay. Thank you for being positive about your dining experience and our new restaurant. I'm disappointed you missed out on an air-conditioned room, we were just so busy over the bank holiday. Next time give us a call and we will do our bgest to allocate you an air-conditioned room. Thanks again for the review.
Easily located with ample parking. The meal taken in the Restaurant was very nice, as was the lovely breakfast! The staff are extremely friendly and added to the enjoyment of our stay. One negative comment is that the bedroom was too hot but it felt a bit OTT to switch on the air conditioning! The other is that the pillows were too hard. (Well for me anyway :( )
Thank you both for a kind review; I am most delighted that my team here keep getting a mention in the best ways possible. Our food served in the new retaurant has been a big hit so thanks again for being so positive. Always feel free to use the air-con in the rooms, we like you to be as comfortable as possible. There should be hard and soft pillows in each rom so I will investigate. Thank you once again for a really kind review.
