"Central in Stratford-upon-Avon"
20th May 2012, ConteAlmaviva, Redhill, United Kingdom
The Shakespeare Hotel is an ideal location for anyone wanting to visit Stratford-upon-Avon either for business or pleasure. We have stayed there many times and always felt 'at home'. In addition to the bedrooms, there are various lounges and bars (some with open fires in the winter), which add extra note of comfort. Bedrooms are comfortable, but can vary in size. Breakfast is usually very good, but on our last visit, the staff were a little overstretched on one morning; this is not usually the case. Overall, I would strongly recommend The Shakespeare for a short stay.

Excellent hotel in a great location. First class rooms and extremely relaxing. Have stayed here several times, been in different rooms and all have been excellent.Limited internet access but suits us.Food in bar could be better, but restaurant food fine. Staff always helpful and friendly.
"Disappointed"

The hotel rooms were comfortable, if a little small and the location was excellent. The staff were very polite and helpful, but we were disappointed by the quality of dinner. As we dined before 7pm we opted for the pre-theatre 3 course set meal. Nearly half the choices on each course were unavailable. They had been busy over the bank holiday weekend and the kitchen was empty apparently!! We were staying on Bank Holiday Monday. Hardly good housekeeping for an hotel of this standing. We felt the meal was of a poor quality and they don't know how to make an Irish Coffee! Breakfast however, was tasty and plentiful. Beware if you use their car park however - you will be charged £10 per night for the priviledge, even if you need to use the disabled car parking space! Overall a lovely hotel for B&B but I wouldn't bother with dinner.
"Best chill out break had in years."

If you want the Stratford Experience, you have to stay here !!!Right in the heart of the atmosphere yet quite enough to catch a good nights sleep.Staff were very welcoming and could not do enough for you. If you can push the boat out, go for one of the feature rooms as they make all the difference to the "experience".

"Wrightington hotel"
9th March 2012, Guildford
Very poor stay based on the followingHeater blows Hot air but the vent is at the top of the room so ceiling is super hot and the floor coldNo face cloths but thats an English issue it seemsNo kleenex, Whats with that, cost control? No clock in the room.......Wifi is slow and the password and login would also serve duty as a nuclear launch code, way too complicated and if you have your laptop connected you cannot connect your Blackberry without a fresh code which is almost impossible to enter in a Blackberry anyway! All in all not really user friendly

Management responseDear Guest,Thank you for your comments. I would like to apologise for the lack of Kleenex in your bathroom. This is a hotel standard and I have contacted our housekeeper who will ensure we have this all rooms. We do have a variety of bedrooms with a small selection of rooms with the described heating. Please contact me pesonally and I will allocate an upgraded room with a standard radiator for your comfort.I must agree with your launch code comment. This is possibly created so people can not guess another code, but I will forward your comment to our It-department.I hope this will not deter you from returning to The Shakespeare.Kind regards,Marnix TeekenGeneral ManagerMercure Shakespeare Hotel Stratford-upon-Avon

"Great staff"
19th February 2012, Birmingham, United Kingdom
The service from the staff was excellent - very helpful and most courteous. The only downside was that we hadn't realised that the en suite only had a shower, and not a bath, but that didn't spoil the quality of our stay. The quality of the food served in the restaurant was excellent too.
"Good service"

I got the good quality and standard of service that I always get from an Accor hotel and certainly at this Mercure where I have stayed before. The only problem is the lack of parking space which is very limited in numbers avaolable.

"Great outing to Stratford Theatre"
4th February 2012, Musidorus, Surrey
Excellently locaed for a short walk to the Theatre. Staff couldn't have been nicer and made the stay pleasant. Old fashioned rooms, but what do you expect with Shakespeare. Food was good, missed breakfast but could go into lounge and have eggs benedict brought to me with coffee for a similar price, so who cares.

Excellent location, great service and a room that had bags of character - the perfect location to stay at and see a production at the RSC Theatre nearby. However, our room was at the front of the hotel and it was slightly noisy first thing in the morning (due to deliveries to businesses opposite) but this did not detract too much from a wonderful stay.
"Very comfortable but a bit expensive"
27th September 2011, Penarth, United Kingdom
We stayed for one night because our preferred hotel was full. We found the hotel very comfortable and liked being able to leave a window open in our room. We may stay again in similar circumstances but we do not normally pay so much for a night's stay in Stratford.
"Good Good Good!"
6th September 2011, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom
Very good customer service, nice room and friendly people - only issue was dripping shower that became worse throughout break and after many requests nothing was done even after four notifications. The bar service was quick and friendly, the reception took the time to ensure everything about reservation was dealt with. Didnt eat at Hotel but heard other people raving about food.Room was fabulous, in true shakespear "romeo and Juliet" room was lovely and well equipped.

Hotel selected for location close to area to be visited. Hotel management and staff are all very helpful. Room allocated was well presented, clean and spacious. Did not appear to have cooling - not a problem for our stay but could be during any hot weather.Breakfast service was excellent with good selection. In house restaurant good service and quality food. Mattress on bed was at end of life -springs could be felt but overall comfort was fair.Advised staff who thanked me for the advice.
"Fine Hotel"
23rd June 2011, NYC
The hotel is in a charming old building. The location is great - between the main Shakespeare sites and a lot of restaurants and shops. Despite the old building my room was modern. Room was clean and comfortable if a bit small for two people. Breakfast is overpriced and not included, but there are plenty of cafes in the neighborhood. Parking is around the corner and cannot be accessed from the front of the hotel - if you're driving you should check the location before you arrive!
