"Great deal on a good hotel"
26th February 2013, Dianne M
I booked the room well in advance and got a great rate. Hotel is brilliantly situated for all theatres, restaurants and shopping. Staff were helpful and friendly and were happy to store our luggage on checkout day while we went for lunch and shopped. A beautiful location right beside the Winter Gardens. Our room was really quiet, especially as we overlooked the fountains in the Peace Gardens. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Very good value as we had an offer price. Breakfast offer too, £10 if booked on arrival the night before, £16.50 if booked when booking room. Nothing on website re parking. If you park in the qpark on Charles St it costs £12.60 for 24 hrs with 10% discount voucher from hotel.

"Comfy, friendly and great location."
3rd January 2013, mrsmith580, Leeds, United Kingdom
I stayed here with my partner. the hotel is situated right in the middle of the nicest part of Sheffield city centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly, The room was very clean, modern and comfy, the breakfast was very nice and again the staff were friendly. the hotel offers valet parking but the multi story Q park is only 500 yds from the hotel door and you get 10% discount so there's no need to pay the extra £10.00 for valet parking.I would definately stay here again and would also look at other mercure hotels in different places.

"'Luxury' break had more of a budget feel."
26th December 2012, Natalie H, Doncaster, England, United Kingdom
We stayed at this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we booked the spa package with the breakfast/evening meals, privelidge room and what was advertised as £70 worth of spa vouchers. Upon checking in, the hotel was very busy with a wedding party congregating in the foyer, there was a queue of people waiting to check in, but the reception staff were very quick and efficient and got through everyone quickly. Once in our room, I browsed through the spa brochure to decide which treatments to choose, however about 10 minutes after finding our room we received a phone call asking us what time we would like to visit the spa and would we like a 25 minute massage, a facial or a manicure. Disappointed that the 'voucher' was for a limited range of treatments and that we had to book at different times, we booked our massages and headed off for dinner. Dinner was nice, but the restaurant was almost empty and lacked atmosphere. We were asked if we were on the spa 'deal' and presented with a different menu with a choice of 4 starters, mains and deserts. The beds were comfortable but the room on the 5th floor was very hot and there didn't seem to be a way of cooling it down, we were also surprised to find that the 'double' bed was in fact two twin beds pushed together, reminiscent more of a cheap 3* in Spain. The toiletries, soft drinks and robes were a nice touch and we ordered breakfast in our room from 8.00-8.15am and there was a knock on the door at 8 on the dot the next morning. All in all, the stay was pleasant enough but when booking, you are lead to believe it will be a 'luxury' experience with the privelidge room, spa and evening meal, but the whole thing had a 'budget' feel to it which was disappointng given it cost £185. In retrospect, the stay would have been better just paying for the room, eating out in Leopold square a stones throw away and booking the treatment you want separately.

"A well valued spa break"
23rd December 2012, Jo1897, Nottingham, United Kingdom
My friend and I had a really pleasant, really relaxed stay at Mecure. Our twin room was very attractive with all basic ameneties that you would want or need. The evening meal and the breakfast were plentiful and delicious. We had an excellently valued stay that included our room, our food and money towards treatements in the spa, which was incredibly relaxing. My only 3 criticisms are as follows: 1) the walls between rooms are thin. When we went to bed, we could hear lots of noise from the room next door, which was not pleasant; 2) despite having early morning spa treatments, we were 30 minutes late being seen; 3) there's no car park at this hotel. Otherwise, we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay..
