"Great stay"

Only thing that let it down was charging for wifi, most places supply this for free, even b & b's and self catering.

"A good stay"

Nice large room & good selection of pillow type. Had light supper in the bar, but was offered a seat in the diningroom to eat it, if I wanted to escape the TV football - a very thoughtfull gesture. All staff I dealt with were local and helpful. Booked in as convenient for business location, but would use it as an hotel of choice in teh future.

"Big Hotel, looks better on the inside"

This hotel was very nice to stay in. It looks much nicer than you'd guess from the outside.I had a lovely room with views over cardiff. Very spacious with sofa, desk and comfy bed.Would definately stay again. Need to book early for good value.They say limited parking but I didn't have any problems that day.

"Mecure Holland House Spa"

An enjoyable romantic valentine package. Nice touches - chocolates on pillow. Champagne with meal. Pool was a little cold but could be the time of the year. Would stay again. Five minute walk into Cardiff was great - went to nearby museum - most enjoyable.

"Nice hotel but noisy"

I have stayed at the hotel a few time on business before and must admit have always found it noisy (external traffic from the busy roads nearby) and also internally as well..During our recent stay we had an xx'01 room backing onto the lifts and during the night there was a constant noise from the lifts which we found disruptive. Given the location of the hotel which is actually great for city centre access there is al ot of external traffic noise which seem to be compunded by the weeked with an increase in sirens and revellers etc.Our stay was over the weeked which coincided with several hen and stag parties at the hotel and the late night noise from them directly was actually minimal. and non disruptive.The hotel itself is actually impressive and the rooms are a great size with great external views and the facilities cannot be faulted.Other negatvies are the car parking charges (£12 overnight - but I think this is for 24hrs as well) compared to cheaper charges at other hotels and the cost of breakfast if this is booked as an extra rather than via an inclusive rate.

A lovely hotel. Wonderful staff. We got room upgrade to a huge room. I would stay there again. An excellent bar & restaurant too. Good value, comfy bed, lovely views. Stayed in room 1002 on 10th floor

"Beautiful room, cool views and surprisingly quiet"

Lovely hotel, considering it's location I was expecting it to be quite noisy but actually it was brilliant! There was a function on Friday and Saturday night but the room they were in was actually very well sound proofed. Couldn't hear it on the 4th floor where we stayed at all, We could hear a little traffic noise but we stayed with some friends who were on the 12th floor and they couldn't hear anything. The views from the rooms the higher up you go were beautiful! Breakfast had a good time period, there was lots of choice but perhaps the hot section could've had more choice. The spa was great. Only downside was the tiny car park and the expense of it but overall, lovely hotel and brilliant location. We will definitely stay again.

"Good hotel- shame about the bar staff"

The location is only five minutes walk from the end of the main shopping street.We were really pleased to get a room upgrade to one of the nicest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in- and there are lots like this, on the corner with panoramic views if you are on 5th floor or higher- and there are 14 floors.Check in and out were good. Restaurant for breakfast was busyish and a bit short on some crockery, staff OK but I have known better. Bar service was awful- once we walked out because they were so slow, next time we waited half an hour to be served.Leisure suite is good. This is potentially a really good hotel presently marred by what I would think is poor staff training. I would definitely give it another chance.

"Spectacular View of Cardiff"

I remember when this hotel was a very functional office building. The metamorphosis is quite amazing. The large picture windows give a spectacular view of Cardiff day and night. Service is excellent and so is the food served in the bar and restaurant. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

"Good value"

This is around our fifth stay at this hotel, we have never been dissapointed, the staff and facilities are very good, and they make their pricing very easy to understand, the breakfast is fanstastic, we look forward to our next visit to Cardiff, we will definately stay there again.

had a great time ..rooms really nice, but air conditioning was pre set to a max of 28c which sounds hot but the room was freezing!!! had to sleep with the duvet doubled over me to keep warm ...not really what i was expecting!! everything else was great though

"Luxury for the Budget Conscious"

I stay regularly in Cardiff and use a variety of hotels in the city and I like to use the Holland House Mercure when I can get a decent rate, which is less often than it used to be as there has been a price rise this year. The location is good, there is secure parking and the staff are efficient, helpful and knowledgable. The rooms are all well proportioned and the higher floors have good views over the city.
