"A pleasant place to stay, with good views"
13th April 2012, Lonsdale7, Morecambe, United Kingdom
I stayed in one of the Executive rooms for the night. On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming and explained everything clearly, the room was of good quality and suitable for my needs. For a large hotel such as this it was a surprise to hear very little from other guests in the corridors etc at night as I have done many other times at different hotels.Breakfast was of good quality with plenty of variety to suit all taste's - the welcome was excellent, however impersonal service thereafter was a little bit of a let down (although they were busy at the time).

"Very Nice Stay"
27th February 2012, Rochdale, United Kingdom
I stayed at the hotel a couple of weeks ago, the staff were excellent, very friendly and made you feel very welcome. The receptonist Andy was very helpful and made me feel very comfortable, he was excellent. The restaraunt was very nice, and I thought it looked very good, the decoration was fabulous. I did not feel annoyed or unhappy with anything whilst i were there, and thought it was a fantastic hotel, I would reccomend this hotel to anyone. i was very pleased with the service and the bedroom, and the hotel.
"Not too bad........"
9th February 2012, Birmingham, United Kingdom
Hotel was ok but there were a few problems. Supposed to have been staying in a quiet part of the hotel but it was extremely noisy in the corridors until about 3am which wasn't at all ideal the night before an exam. Also arrived at 4.30pm and rooms weren't ready as they hadn't been cleaned after the previous occupants.

Management responseDear GuestI am sorry that you experienced issues with noise during your recent visit. We do try to allocate rooms so that guests not attending functions are placed in the quieter parts of the hotel. I am not sure why you were not looked after in this manner. Please accept my sincere apologies. I will follow up with the team in the next couple of days to ensure we resolve the issue. I hope that you may give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future.Yours sincerelyIvan LynchGeneral Manager

"Accrington/ Blackburn Mecure"
15th September 2011, Hornchurch, United Kingdom
Always a nice clean hotel, with good size rooms. The restaurant offers a good selection of food. The hotel suits us as near to family and can accomodate a disabled person,. A downside is that the hotel can be very busy and noisy at weekends as a big Wedding venue. Its near the M6 which will suit people travelling onto the Lake district

"Not the best...."
12th August 2011, preston
Lovely seting, but expected luxury and a lovely room to match the setting...! Which was a great shame as the service at the wedding was lovely.Too hot in rooms, water pipes didn't work properly - water splurting out of sink tap.All in all not very impressive.

"Lovely building lovely location"
31st July 2011, Milton Keynes
The Dunkenhalgh is a lovely old hotel, I have been staying there for many years during multiple owners. Whilst the rooms in the newer wings are good some of the rooms in the main/older part of the building are in need of refurbishment especially the rooms over the bar. The food is a good standard and the service by the staff is very good. Very pleasant and friendly welcome by reception staff and even the poor soul who had to bring my breakfast at 6.30 greeted me with a friendly "good morning and a smile" If you have to work in or near Blackburn or Accrington I would recommend this hotel.

Went fpr a wedding and had a fantastic stay. Was a lovely room for the price. The room had everything you could need, iron and ironing board, kettle and cups, trouser press and a TV that has a clock built into it. Great!

"Poor Service & In need of a make-over"
6th May 2011, Milton Keynes
Stayed at this hotel for business, but don't think I'll bother staying there again. After checking in I found that the Wi-fi wasn't working - but hey to make up for it they gave me a free voucher for..... Wi-fi!!!!!!Not all meal choices available on the menu, cracked tiles in the bathroom, no hot water at the wash basin - unsure why as the shower did have hot water?.Definately not a good advert for this hotel chain.

"Excellent hotel"
31st March 2011, London
The hotel was of excellent quality and far exceeded my expectations. The bar was very nice and the breakfasts kept me full until dinner time. The rooms were spacious and clean and it was a very nice touch to have sky 1 and sky sports in the bedrooms.Along with the beautiful surroundings and great spa I would rate the hotel among the best I have stayed at.All nicely refurbished and I will definately be back many times in the future.

"Disappointed"
7th February 2011, AuldCreamery9, Ayr, United Kingdom
I have stayed here several times and had different rooms on each occasion. My last stay was in the Courtyard. The room was badly maintained with marks on the walls that should have been painted over. There was no hot water. I reported this to the front desk and was told that it would be sorted. (I was going out for a meal)On my return the water was luke warm and in the morning, again cold. I reported this on my checking out and was told that it had been reported and the receptionist advised me that she was not a plumber! I have been meaning to write to the hotel but have not found the time. This hotel is supposed to be four star and Should Do Better.

"OK hotel but dont erly on the alarm call!"
18th December 2010, Exeter
This hotel is very convenient for the destination I have to visit for business. It is a reasonable hotel, if perhaps a little "tired" in terms of decor and appearance. However, whilst that is not the end of the world it has a disappointing level of attention to detail when it comes to reliability. This is the second time I have stayed here and not reeceived my alarm call. The latest being particularly embarrassing. It seems the hotel is completely incapable of programming into their systems a pretty essential requirement. This was important for me as I had three very long days on the trot as a result of extensive travelling and needed to ensure I was up instead of sleeping on! Sadly, for the second time, I was not helped by the hotel. It's an OK hotel in the main but if there were an equally convenient hotel close by, I'd be staying there. Sadly you can't rely on the hotel to deliver basic requirements and that, in this day and age, is not really good enough.

"60th birthday"
26th November 2010, bolton
I spent the night at the hotel with my husband, two children and their partners for my 60th birthday. The hotel and facilities were very comfortable with very good decor and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. I would have no hesitation in staying at the hotel again.

"Reasonable hotel in a good location"
18th November 2010, Liverpool
A reasonable hotel if you get a room on sale/discount. I wouldn't have liked to have paid full price as it is not worth it.The main part of the hotel (the old building) is very nice to have a look around, the newer part of the hotel is a bit shabby and in need of a lick of paint. Otherwise the rooms were clean and fresh and a good nights sleep was had.The breakfast is the best part of the stay (very tasty) and the staff in the restaurant certainly try very hard to satisfy everybody..... top marks.
