« Poor service, great location »

Upon arriving, I went to the bar/restaurant and received my free welcome drink. I appreciated that. I ordered a pizza with sausage and mushrooms. The "sausage@ was these horrible round flimsy pieces of some kind of ham. I asked my server twice if this was sausage and he said yes. I was so disgusted by the meat that I asked for a plate to dispose of it in. I thought the very least they could do was take the price of the"sausage" off of my bill, considering that I scraped it off the pizza Also, the server/manager kept on pacing the room back and forth. But no one ever returned to my table and asked if I wanted another drink. I would've been pleased to order a glass of wine and pay for it but no one ever asked. Yet the server kept pacing around the restaurant instead of saying "How are you this evening? How was the service? May Ibring you anything else?" Then when I went to my room there was no USB port. In 2017, that is unacceptable. I called the front desk and was told I'd have to come downstairs and speak to the concierge just to charge my phone. I didn't want to come back downstairs just to charge my phone because I was getting ready for a 15 hour flight the next day. Finally, I believe I read on the website that to check out, you can just leave your key at the front desk. That wasn't true. I was asked what my room number was, if I had charges to mini bar and I had to sign receipts. Unbelievable! I thought I could just drop off the key. Please clarify on website. It appears that guests have to wait in line and do a full check out process. In the morning, the person was so focused on me signing, possible mini bar expenses, that she never even bothered to ask about my stay. Please at least tell guests that they must wait in line and do a full check out procedure in the morning.

The hotel does offer express check out; one can simply leave the key in the drop box on the reception counter and the account will be settled and bill emailed to you accordingly. This however can only be done if there has been a credit card left at the time of the check in and email details given at that time. « Wonderful stopover »

It's a great way to make a long haul bearable. A 2 night stopover if you have the time with a guaranteed good sleep is better and less expensive than a flat bed fare. It's also a good location for calm shopping as the outlets at Tung Chung are at the upper end and we'll stocked.

« Mostly good, but »

2 issues: 1. Very difficult to raise a response to a phone call to the "You" button, the Duty Manager, and the Operator. Successful for only 1 attempt in 5 I think. 2. The lighting system is ridiculous. It should be intuitive, and I really don't think that it should be so awkward as to require instructions to be necessary. e.g. 1 the hall lights were on, I went to the door to turn them off. This caused the bedside lights to also turn off, so have to go back to the bed in the dark to turn them back on individually. e.g. 2 I got up in the night to visit the bathroom. There are 2 doors, one each end. I found the door at one end in the dark ( I didn't want to turn on any light switch in the room to actuate the bathroom lights for fear of it also turning on the room light and waking my wife since there appeared to be no logic relating to which switch turned on which light in the room). There is only 1 light switch in the bathroom and it was near the other door. I carefully walked through the bathroom to turn it on, but tripped over the stool which protrudes from under the counter, stubbed my toe, cut my shin, landed on my face on the floor, knocking my elbow on the way. I think I was lucky not to knock my head or teeth on the counter on the way down. A ridiculous situation...it's so obvious that if a room has 2 doors then there needs to be a simple switch for both.

« Great presentation, service and restaurant. Room was a bit disappointing though »

Hotel definitely seemed of a high standard from the lobby, restaurant, counter / concierge staff and easy access to the shops was great too. The only real let down to me was the actual design of the room, especially some of the small things which made a big difference. The weighing scale didn't work so I couldn't weigh my bags (they did bring me a new one when I called the counter but it was way out of calibration so wasn't accurate, showing 2-3kg with nothing even on it). The entire lighting controls made no sense even when I followed the instructions written on the card. I had to turn on / off multiple switches any time I wanted to turn on / off the lights and pressing the 'master' switch mentioned on the card did not do what it said it would do. Also - there was not enough lighting in the actual room. Even with every single light on it was very dimly lit when compared to other hotels I had come from. There was also no convenient power outlet that I could find anywhere near the bed. The only one I did find was on the ground level behind the back of the desk in the corner which wasn't exactly convenient. Overall the room was clean and tidy but just a few small things that made quite a big different to my stay and experience there. Very expensive when compared to other better hotels in China but I suppose that's to be expected of an airport close to the airport in Hong Kong. The free drink voucher for the bar was a nice touch and the free shuttle to and from the airport every 15 mins was very convenient.

Excellent location for a short transit stay in HK for 2/3 nights, Airport transfer good service, a bit of shopping at outlets shops, excellent restaurants at Citygate complex: suckling pig, roast goose...extraordinary!!

« a nice relaxing visit »

A good warm greeting when we arrived. as usual we were well looked after during our stay. The buffet breakfast is very good and they even have some marmite to put on your toast ! The hotel is well situated for the airport and to visit other areas. once again we were well looked after - a good friendly hotel.
