I enjoyed my recent stay at Novotel Paris 17. The hotel is well located with a view of the Tour Eifel. Rooms are clean and spacious. The restaurant and bar are also nice. I also enjoyed the warm welcome.
Its a standard Novotel. of which I think in general the brand is slipping badly. Paper cups and disposable glasses is not my idea of a 4 star property. I arrived at 2.30 pm and was allocated my room. At the door lay 3 breakfast trays which remained there until after 10pm that evening. The hotel advertises a mini bar, which was completely empty but has a lovely sign on the front saying "please enjoy our complimentary water"..... I would if it was there !!!!! . Tea and coffee making facilities......... Nothing there except a kettle a tea bag and some sugar. NO CUPS...... Suppose this is ok if you want some hot suggary tea which you drink from your hand..... I made my way from the 9th floor to reception and explained the problem. I politely asked would it be possible to have some cups tea coffee and water in the room. The reply I received just about sums up the customer service in this hotel "It will come, you need to be patient.... we have 140 rooms in this hotel, it will be there later." Gee thanks Mr Receptionist, well that was me told. Actually it did come later.... At 7pm some five hours after check in. Free Wifi is about as fast as the old dial up. You need to key in your request on the web and be very patient.... In fact go and make a cup of tea..... Oh I forgot..... No tea and coffee was there so that rules that plan out. As a Club Accor Gold member I supposedly get VIP service...... I have had better service in a Budget IBIS..... This is not a FOUR STAR HOTEL. Regretfully the Hotel is closest to our Paris office and is used a lot by my company. It can be very expensive at times and when you pay 189 Euros per night which I have done in the past you expect more. This ranks as a mediocre 2 star in my opinion with very poor customer service. My advice is to avoid this one if you can.

Upon arrival, the person at the desk barely spoke to us and handed us our key. A bit disappointing as we are Accor members and AVPC members as well. The breakfast the next morning was terrible. There were no eggs for 10 minutes and I had two croissants and two slices of cold bacon. For 18 Euro it was pathetic. We left the "Do not disturb" sign out for the two mornings and both times our rooms were serviced. Again not impressed. Would we sty there again, not by choice.
