ibis Northampton Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "theare break"

20th January 2013

We book the hotel as we were going to the Derngate to watch a show, the location was fantastic and within walking distance of both the theater and the restaurant we booked. Check in was a little blunt but efficient, the rooms were very comfortable as was the bed so overall a great weekend at a very reasonable price.

ibis Northampton Centre: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great location"

12th December 2012, BelfastPMcC, Belfast

We were in Northampton for a rugby match, travelling by train. The location of the Ibis was perfect. Turn right out of the railway station and 5 minute walk towards the town gets you to Hotel (another 5 minutes gets you into the town centre). Turn left and walk 10 minutes and you are at the ground! Happy days!!Beds comfortable, they happily arranged twin beds for us after a phone call on booking; pretty good value at £68 a room; clean and good service, and a kebab shop outside!!We had a great weekend! And then of course - we were supporting Ulster! Need I say more..............................!

ibis Northampton Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great value for money and excellent City Centre location"

20th November 2012

Stayed for 2 nights and the Ibis Northampton (Sol Central) is great value for money, very clean and is in a great location for the City Centre. I stay here at least once a year (and have done for many years) and the standards are constant.

ibis Northampton Centre: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Watch out for Parking charges"

23rd October 2012, LeedsBlondie, leeds

I have stayed here many times as it is a convenient stop off point. Be aware of parking charges as the hotel will rip you off. I recentlt stayed, arrived about 4pm, and had to leave at 5pm to come back later and stay over night. I asked the receptionist to validate my parking ticket, which she did by scanning it. She said 'you can pay tomorriow, it's fine'. I got another ticket on the way in later. On check out, I asked her to validate the ticket, which she did and asked me to pay £5.50 each visit to the car park. I, perhaps rather stupidly, assumed the charge was for a 24 hour period, so expected to pay £5.50. I did ask her why the hell she hadn't pointed the fact out that when I left an hour after check in, that it would have been far cheaper for me to pay at the pay station, than pay £5.50 for it. She said she tells everyone - well, she certainly didn't tell me, and I was completely ripped off. If it wasn't for the fact that I've got several pre-paid stays here before the year end, I wouldn't go back because of her attitude. And in any case, it's actually cheaper to pay at the pay station for a 24 hour period, only £4.50!

ibis Northampton Centre: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Do not believe the 15 minute guarantee!"

31st July 2012, YorkshireWildgoose, Yorkshire

The rooms are not air-conditioned and it was unbearably hot when I stayed for 3 nights. I was provided with a fan and did manage to cool the room to bearable conditions by the final night of my stay by leaving a note for the cleaners to leave my curtains closed and the windows open. On the morning before the final night of my stay my TV wouldn't switch on so I asked reception to get someone to look at it whilst I was at work (giving them far more than 15 minutes to deal with my request). After having a meal after work I returned to my room to settle for the night and found the tv still didn't work and there was no message telling me that it couldn't be fixed. To cut a long story short it turns out that my inital report had been ignored and I had to report the same problem again 11 hours later (so much for 15 minutes response time). Anyway, the tv couldn't be fixed, I was offered a room change but was tired and didn't want to move from a cooled down room to a hot room, I was offered a drink or dinner (I'd already eaten) but at no point was I offered any money back, let alone the free night's stay guaranteed for failing to meet the 15 minute response time. I eventually stayed in my room with a broken tv and read my book!

ibis Northampton Centre: 2.0 out of 5 stars "No darn internet and wonky room keys.....again!!!!!"

24th July 2012, OldGit1587763, Rossendale, United Kingdom

First of all.....the good points:1) Unlike last week, the room was quiet and I did actually get a good night sleep in the room.2) Also this time....unlike last week.....the check-in was relatively quick.3) Room seemed to be pretty well maintained and clean. Now for the bad:1) Paid for the entertainment package but neither the internet, films, TV or radio worked on the TV. I complained numerous times before someone finally came up to my room and told me the blindingly obvious that the TV was knackered. It took a day and a half to get to this stage. I was eventually offered a room change but would have to take a downgrade from a double room to a single room. I declined and asked entertainment package to be taken off the cost of the room. Unsurprisingly enough, I still had to remind reception on departure that the cost of the entertainment package needed docking from the price. And even more unsurprisingly, I wasn't offered the free nights stay for not giving a satisfactory response within 15 mins as per the advert. Just as well that I'd already decided by then that "The Camponile" is where I'll be staying for the remainder of my contract. Annoying thing is that I got a similar catalog of farces with the internet service during the previous week's stay particularly when you are relying on Skype to speak to your family at home.2) All the services miraculously appeared on the final and 4th day of my stay. Not sure when because nobody informed me of what was done.3) Don't bother ringing zero on the phone. The '0' for reception is completely pointless as no-one will ever answer.4) Room keys seem to constantly stop working and need resetting again and again.5) Ironing facilities are shared on each floor. Really don't like the idea of ironing my grundies in public. Surely, it's not too expensive to have the usual iron and ironing boards handed out at reception so you can iron away in private.6) Speed of service actually improves once they recognise your complaining face down at reception.7) Can we not have instructions or list of services in the rooms. You pay for the entertainment package but your not sure when accessing the package whether you're being charged again for the likes of WIFI (which by the way is darn expensive at near enough £10 per 24 hours) because you're having to provide your card details in the purchase process even when entertainment is included in room price.

ibis Northampton Centre: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Friendly and comfortable"

13th June 2012

I am on crutches/in a wheelchair and I found the staff to be very helpful here - bringing my breakfast tray over and helping me, and they made sure my room was near the lift.I have stayed here 4 or 5 times now and it is excellent value, clean and well decorated and the bed is extremely comfortable. Highly recommended.

ibis Northampton Centre: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Great location but in need of facelift"

27th May 2012, damianthedude, Riyadh

The hotel is ideally situated in the centre on town, but, it is tired and could do with an internal facelift. I have stayed at a number of Ibis around the world and this one does let the brand down. That said I was only staying for one night and at the price I got it was a no-brainer.

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience of the hotel, but I am pleased to note that you were satisfied with the service and value we offer. I am aware that this is one of the older style Ibis hotels, but we do have a bedroom refurbishment planned in the future and I hope you will notice the changes after this has been completed. ibis Northampton Centre: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good Value for Money"

A good base for Northampton. The Ibis is conveniently located for the town centre and next to several car parks, for which you need to pay.
