"FAILED TO DISCLOSE HIGHLY NOISY AND DISRUPTIVE CONSTRUCTION"

Having arrived from the states where I booked this hotel, I was very surprised to learn of noisy jack hammering, upon arrival. There was no mention of this on the Sofitel website. The staff explained that it occured daily throughout business hours. I work in my room. So this was not acceptable. It could be heard from the 3rd floor and upper floor room that they provided as options. I was especially disappointed because I explicitly stated that I needed a quiet room in the comment section of the Sofitel reservation form. That said, the accomodations, location and onsite staff seemed excellent. The ommission was, however, unacceptable.

Free Internet, Friendly Staff, Decent facilities, Everything is on the house.They arrange everything for you. To be honest, there was nothing to complain about. There is a mall right next door, ABC mall which has pretty much everything you need.Breakfast also was pretty decent. Wish it was included in the price instead of a surcharge.Wisam

Warm welcome on check in, the hotel is fairly small and of an older style but everywhere seemed spotlessly clean. Room was large with a very comfy bed. Shower was very powerful and there was no lack of hot water. Only 2 slight negatives are that the breakfast is, in my opinion bad value at $22 but there are coffee shops nearby that offer more choice at a lower cost. There is a large construction site behind the hotel that is very noisy from 6:30AM so no sleep-in possible!

Good hotel. The team is very nice. It is not located downtown so you have to take a cab to go downtown but it is not that far. Restaurant is like all restaurant in Novotel : good but not a lot of choice. The rooms are great, the pillows are magical. Internet connection is not very good but it is working.

Very good service. Helpful reception staff who helped us book our day tour to Byblos and Harissa. The offer the hotel gave us was cheaper than what other local tour agencies could offer. Room and hotel was clean. In safe and clean neighbourhood. Was a bit noisy as my room was facing the street. Overall very satisfied with stay.

Somewhat pricey hotel, however very comfortable, very well located in Beirut within walking distance to many places in the city. The staff was very friendly and professional.A couple of minor issues: Generally speaking, internet service is well below par in Lebanon. It is so deathly slow that you feel at times you are sharing a single connection with thousands of people. Considering how much the Gabriel charges for Internet ($8/hr) you would think they actually offer a good connection. They do not. It is definitely not worth the money. You will feel like you are waiting for paint to dry while loading a web page. I didn't think to request a non-smoking room, and I am not sure if such a concept even exists in Lebanon... but it was somewhat disappointing that I could smell the cigarette smoke emanating from my neighbors' rooms pretty much all night every night. Despite these minor irritants, the stay was very comfortable and I would not hesitate to return to the Gabriel on a future Beirut visit.
