Ideally situated on the beachfront, between the iconic Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Enjoy breakfast and other meals at the Atlantis restaurant on the first floor, with stunning views of Copacabana and the famous Sugarloaf mountain - what a way to start each day! And get a sea-facing room no X13-X19 on the higher floors to bask in the same view from your own balcony. The hotel is currently being refurbished for the Olympics and so there is occasional noise, moving of furniture, and some facilities have been temporarily relocated eg the gym - but there is no real disruption or problem. Overall service is very good, and the staff were very helpful giving advice, arranging tours etc for the short time I was in town on my first ever visit. I will certainly stay here again on my next visit!

I had really bad experience checking in and checking out - A lot of the mistakes from reception team and when I pointed it out they got so angry and the fake smiling face suddenly diapers. I'm not planning to stay again.

The rooms are small but clean. The beds are comfortable and you have a choice of ten pillow types from the pillow menu. The rooms smell of mildew which may be unavoidable due to the humidity in Rio. The HVAC system is old and was extremely loud. The toilet would not flush several times and the faucet handle needed maintenance. The bed reading light was out but they did not repair. The door to outside was extremely hard to slide open even after they greased it. The service was great when we needed something they came right away. The breakfast included was unbelievable. You also can't beat the location and view.

This was our third stay and it just gets better each time. The location of the hotel is excellent as is the accommodation and views - we had a full view of Copacabana and Sugar Loaf Mountain. We again had the benefit of the Club Milisesmmie lounge which is superb. What makes it so are the wonderful staff who are only to pleased to help you and welcome after a long day. It is especially nice to see familiar faces after many years who genuinely recognise you and endeavour to help you. I note that various review mention noise within the hotel - however this is from construction at a neighbouring building - rooms are being renovated within the hotel but we could not hear any noise from within. I would really recommend this hotel - it has professional approach, balanced with a genuinely warm welcome from its many staff members.

Staff acknowledged my accor platinum status, offering a room upgrade to a suite room 840. I arrived at 11am but had to wait until 2.30pm for the room was available, which was a long time after 18 hour flight. The suite was large on the 8th floor but very noisy with major construction work underway across the road. At 6pm this stopped and the rooms views across Ipanema and the mountains spectacular for the sunset. The room is also adjacent to the Club lounge unfortunately the lounge outside seating / eating area is right above the bedroom and from about 7am -11am each morning you can hear tables and chairs scrape on the hard tiled floor above. Its like furniture being moved in your room.. So good room but has its pitfalls. The rest of the hotel, pool, staff service etc is excellent. Just be careful to ask for a room away from the construction work.

The staff here couldn't be more accommodating and friendly. Although the hotel is starting to show some wear and tear, they are in the process of refurbishment... make sure you don't get a room near construction. This was the second time staying here, I would return again.
