"Our stay in Hotel Le Bourbon"

When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to see such a fine looking hotel. The first impressions with the outside area for drinking and dining was very pleasing. The reception staff were very helpful. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean apart from the edges of carpet and under beds where I think the maid may need an attachment for the hoover. The beds were extremely comfortable and the sheets and bedding of good quality.As were the bathroom towels. We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant as it looked so inviting. We did find the food and wine a little expensive but the quality and service made up for this. We had a brochure in the room describing an alternative to the restaurant as the Bistro but on enquiring were told it did not exist!!. We liked the hotel so much we stayed again on our return journey but this time ate out in town. When we returned to the hotel we were suprised to find nobody was running the bar as we decided to all have a nightcap before bed. Eventually the bar was opened for us.Overall we loved it and would definitely stay again and recommend it to other people.

"Value for money in lovely surroundings"

Would highly recommend this hotel. We were on our way down to the South West of France and this provided a very convenient stopover for one night. Although a chain it feels more independent and there is a very highly regarded restaurant on site. We also travelled with our dog and they were very accomodating of this. The addition of access to newly released English spoken films in the room was a bonus espeically when you are tired and just want to crash out in front of the tv!

My wife and I had a very nice stay at this hotel. It is a beautiful setting and in a good location. We were a little upset at the end of our stay, however. After we had checked out and stored our baggage we went out to tour Bourges some more and got caught in the rain. We got soaked and ended up taking a taxi back to the hotel -- wet and cold. I got our baggage and then we sat in the lobby for two and a half hours, waiting for to get another taxi to take us to our train. Seeing how wet and cold we were -- it would have been nice if the front desk staff had offered us some tea or coffee. They basically ignored us. Otherwise, nice stay.

"Lovely hotel in nice gardens"

Very nice hotel. Secure parking, helpful staff and good sized, clean rooms. Breakfast on the expensive side, but typical of a hotel of this nature. The renovation of the abbey makes this hotel a little more unusual than most, so well worth a visit, and the restaurant has an excellent menu.

"A Pleasant Stay in Bourges"

The hotel staff was very good and extremely helpful. The restaurant setting was great. It was the old chapel of the abbey and the decor was tastefully done. The food was excellent and the breakfast (additional cost) was a reasonable bargain. The buy-in price was a little high but the quality and quantity on the buffert made it worthwhile. We had a superior room in the old abbey section of the hotel. The room was nice but the bed left something to be desired (it sagged in the middle) and the shower/bathtub set-up was less than ideal. Water from the shower created a mess on the floor.

"Superb stay"

Brilliant location in lovely building, in a lovely town. Easy to get to and good parking. Well equipped room - especially appreciated the tea & coffee making facilities. Would have preferred to have one UK TV station as opposed to 2 US - BBC World? Friendly and efficient reception. We ate a wonderful meal in the hotel's restaurant. Will definitely stay there again en route to and from South of France.

"Hotel de Bourbon - Bourges"

The exterior of the hotel is very promising, lovely frontage with garden. The lobby is small and unimposing/unimpressive. On the way up to our room we viewed the menu from the restaurant and were put off by their prices. Our room was small, quite dark, the bathroom was clean but in dire need of a refurb, the furnishings in the room were also old fashioned and needed brightening up. Quite honestly we were so tired from travelling that we were just thankful for a bed but on reflection we could have stayed at a much cheaper hotel.

"Stay at Hotel de Bourbon"

We stayed for 1 night at the Hotel de Bourbon. We have booked a standard room but was upgraded to a Superior room I think. However the room had strong smell of tobacco. (That room is supposed to be a non-smoking room). We have to adhere to a standard room for the night.The standard room is fine with nice decor. But it was on the 1st floor. I could hear clearly everything said in the open air bar outside. That group actually drink till midnight. Soundproof window is very important.We want to try the restaurant but eventually given up because my wife cannot stay awake after a long drive. I hope we will try the restaurant next time. We love the city of Bourges and will love to come again. Will stay at Hotel de Bourbon next time.

"Spectacular hotel and restaurant"

We have stayed in this hotel many times, and we often detour to allow a stay and dinner here. The restaurant is spectacular with outstanding cuisine. The personnel are extremely friendly and helpful. We recommend this highly if you are anywhere close to Bourges.

"Not bad"

Arrived after a long drive through the snow and the hotel was very welcoming. Rooms are surprisingly basic though and thus too expensive. Restaurant stunning but again too expensive.
