ibis Coimbra Centro: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Average but needs refurbishing"

6th September 2012, GhostsInTranslation, Roma, Italy

Coimbra is small so the location is good: you can walk easily to every spot of the city.We have been in more than an IBIS and they seem to belong to 2 categories of renovation: "oldish" and "brand new". This one falls in the 1st kind: especially the bathroom needs refurbishing.Apparently smokers and non-smokers rooms share the same air duct, maybe for this we, non-smokers, smelled smoke in our room. The services are good and the staff is very friendly and helpful, promptly changing the room upon our request: unfortunately there wasn't such a big improvement.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Ibis Coimbra"

1st September 2012, adeUnitedKingdom, united kingdom

The rooms at this hotel are very tired and worn, they need a complete revamp and investment. I had 2 rooms booked a double bed room and a room with 2 singles I had asked for them to be near to each other but was told we could only have 2 rooms with double beds or 2 rooms with 2 single beds near to each other because they don't have the 2 types of room on the same floor, this is rubbish as when I noticed other rooms being cleaned they did have the 2 types of room on the same floor. I was very dissapointed that they had to lie particularly when I had booked the hotel 7 months ago.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Overnight Stay"

30th June 2012, Tokyo, Japan

We stayed there for one night before moving to Porto from Nazare. We found that the hotel is in convenient location. Staffs are helpful and friendly. The room is clean and facing the river. The noise level didn't border us. In fact, it's considered to be quiet. You can have a free bicycle from IBIS though we didn't have time to do so. The buffet breakfast is much better than I expected for 6 EUR.Recommend this if you stay for a couple of nights.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Worse than Ibis standard"

14th May 2012, boyosp, Brazil

Good location, helpful and nice reception desk staff, free internet access in the lobby. This is all that is good in this hotel. The list of negatives is long: outdated rooms, worn out carpet (why not a tile or wooden floor, please!), air conditioning with a foul smell (couldn't turn it on any time), internal corridors smelling ages old still air, bathroom with problematic plumbing (you can guess what I mean), breakfast room with awful loud music. I don't think that it is worth what it charges. Were it not for its good location, I guess I would have moved to another hotel.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 2.0 out of 5 stars "I'd stay somewhere else..."

10th April 2012, Chicago, Illinois, USA

Positive: Location was good and they have parking (for 6E/day)Negative: It was difficult to find. For what we paid we expected a lot more. Air conditioning in the room was hardly blowing so we called downstairs, no one came up, we called again and the front desk person came up, put his had there and said, "it's fine" and walked out! There was a funny smell in the room and bathroom. Breakfast was typical but the coffee was the worst we had. You have to go to the lobby if you want free wi-fi or pay 3E/hour in the room which is inconvenient. We were unable to log on and the front desk just shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn't help.Of all the places we stayed on our two week road trip in Portugal, this was was the most expensive and the most disappointing!

ibis Coimbra Centro: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great Value"

14th March 2012, Baumholder, Germany

It's right on one of the main roads, so the traffic kept me up, but definitely worth the price! And I love that they had hair dryers! Not many places in Europe do.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 4.0 out of 5 stars "All the basics from a Hotel and a nice location"

26th February 2012, New York City, New York, USA

I've satayed at the Ibis Coimbra with my family during a South-North 11 day trip. The location is the star point for the Hotel as the Ibis standanrd is met in every other part. A simple but nice hotel, specially if all you need is a bed (that could be a little better) to crash, a nice room and some breakfast.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good choice."

3rd July 2011, Vilnius

It is good choice for travelers.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Ideal location"

27th March 2011

Great location overlooking the riverside at Coimbra close to historical points of interest. Good sized room, everything clean. Excellent value for money. Didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 4.0 out of 5 stars "good price"

17th January 2011, Paris

the only problem is the water in the bathroom was yellow... makes me feel taking a dirty bath...

ibis Coimbra Centro: 3.0 out of 5 stars "rapid visit to Coimbra"

13th January 2011, JoseBorghino, Sydney, Australia

Ibis Hotels are clean but basic. A little like motels. This one is in a useful position to use as a base for a visit to Coimbra.

ibis Coimbra Centro: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Clean and entrally located"

6th December 2010, uprightM, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Very centrally located, close to the University hill and at the river front. Clean, just like the Ibis international standards. If you go by car, they charge extra (6 EUR) to park inside and you´ll have to accept it, as it is virtually impossible to park at the streets around. Good value for money.
