Check in was appalling. Plenty of staff but lack of friendliness and acknowledgement when waiting is poor. Doesn’t hurt to say to waiting travellers that they will be with you shortly even if they appear to be not serving customers. We were allocated a King suite that was so far away from the hotels reception. The room was overlooking a horrible outdoor area. I asked to be moved to somewhere more suitable and this was provided along with apologies. That room shouldn’t even be available or some serious renovation needs doing. Wait staff, valet parking staff were pleasant and professional.

This is not in the control of the hotel, but worth noting that the Uber driver didn't have a safe space to pull over close to the hotel. Concierge staff were friendly and professional. Room was clean and well appointed (would have been great to have some hand moisturiser provided though). The biggest let down was the lighting in the bathroom, which wasn't adequate especially near the mirror (this view was shared by several of my female colleagues who also had rooms at Novotel; some wear make up and other don't). Buffet was average/good.

We had a great experience at the Novotel on Collins. The beds were comfortable, the room clean and the hospitality staff outstanding! At breakfast they cleaned and refilled quickly in a very busy breakfast time. We also enjoyed the location so close to everything!

The hotel is becoming tired. Used to show itself as a modern clean hotel, now the age is showing, and needs a refresh. Some smells on the floors as well, as you get in an older hotel.
