"Hanoi's Best"
11th May 2012
I booked this hotel on the basis of a number of reviews that rated it as the best hotel in Hanoi. There was not one aspect of the hotel's facilities and service that was not first class. The location is excellent without being in the busy tourist precincts. Tip: Become a LeClub member to (possibly) receive a room upgrade and discounts on food if you wish to eat in the hotel. The hotel restaurants are very good but expensive by Hanoi standards.
"Hanoi haven"
9th May 2012, adelaide
Our stay at hotel metropole lived up to our expectations, elegant, historic, a beautiful oasis in the hubub of hanoi. The staff were friendly and very efficient. Our rooms had lovely decor and the beds were very comfortable. The Sofitel touch of the little extras such as icecream and nibbles around the pool and petite fours at night make it very special and my husband received a birthday card and cake from the hotel. We didn't need a view! also we are sorry to have missed the opening of the bunker!

"Magic in Hanoi"
4th May 2012
Stayed at the Metropole during a recent trip to Vietnem in March/April. The place is magic and worth spoiling yourself by paying the extra cost. Pool was a haven from the heat during the day when you weren't inside in airconditioned comfort and the bars filled in the night time with some great jazz that was being performed live while we were there.
"wonderful experience"

we are very impressed by their friendly staffs and their care.. they did the check in in the room because of our little niece who is travelling with us and the little gifts for her. the club house is a wonderful place to have tea and do reading.
"It was awesome!"
4th May 2012, Seoul, South Korea
As the name of hotel 'Legend', the place was so great.interior was classical mood, and the restaurant was very good. But in the room, there was the curtton between room and bath room instead of door.it was good, but it was uncomportabel to use the bath room. because the curtton was see through style. geraously, it was very nice hotel

"A Fine Hotel"

The Metropole is a French Colonial style hotel position in the heart of Hanoi near the famous Hanoi lakes and shopping area. This hotel is full of history, elegance and great service definitely the best place to stay in Hanoi. We stayed in the old wing of the Hotel and the room are spacious and beautifully appointed. Great service, great food, great stay with a lot of luxury thrown in .

Awesome Hotel, built by French in 1901. Regarded as premier hotel in Hanoi. Spacious rooms, terrific service and atmosphere. Was recommended to us by friends in Australia and we are happy to recommend to others.
"Wow!"

This hotel certainly deserves it's great reputation! We had a great stay and would certainly stay here if we go to Hanoi again. The service is impeccable and I have to say that i have never seen such attention to detail and attention to guests' comfort as at this hotel. From the minute you walk in the door and are greeted by the reception staff and absolutely magnificent flowers your stay here becomes memorable. We stayed in the historic wing and just loved the ambience and history that surrounded us. The only thing that I think could be improved is the comfort of the bed. I found the bed to be too hard and am used to the lovely Sofitel beds that we usually find in these hotels. The staff changed the mattress(?) and put on 2 'toppers' and then I had a good night's sleep. I even had a phone call asking me if the bed was comfortable now!The breakfasts were great, even though I found them to be fairly expensive. The wifi throughout the hotel was much appreciated. All in all it's pretty hard to find fault with this hotel. It's a gem.
"a truly memorable experience"
16th April 2012, brandenburg5, London, UK
We loved staying here - yes it's pricey but it's an experience you will remember for a long time. We stayed in the new wing and it was very comfortable. We had a superb lunch at Angelina, but were disappointed by dinner at the Spice Garden - the food was rather bland, and the prices very high. We also enjoyed drinks on the terrace - and the ice cream served there is excellent, especially the caramel flavour. We also enjoyed ice cream at the very busy local place around the corner on Trang Tiem. Look for the sign that says KEM, and the many motorbikes driving right inside! There are several ice cream stands there; our favourite served only coconut ice cream, in handmade cones. Just 10,000 dong.Breakfast in the hotel is also very expensive, so you might try the Paris Deli across from the Opera House on Le Thang Tong - not bad, and very reasonably priced. Our best meals in Hanoi were not actually at the hotel, they were at Quan An Ngon, another Hanoi experience not to be missed. Ask the concierge to book you a table there as it gets rather crowded. The strange thing is that our official, metered taxi from Hanoi Airport did not know where the Metropole was! We had to show the driver on a map, and he got there eventually. So it's a good idea to have the name and address of the hotel written on a piece of paper whenever you go out. The official taxis are fine, but don't expect the drivers to speak English or know where anything is.
"Great hotel"
16th March 2012
We had a lovely stay at the Metropole. Every thing was perfect . We were in the Opera wing and had the most glamorous room with an open ensuite to a beautiful bath andshower room. The food was excelent and the staff could not have been more helpful. We cannot recomend it highly enough.
"The best hotel we've ever stayed in!"
14th March 2012, thelimsonholiday, Singapore
We had the pleasure of staying for four days at the Sofitel Metropole Legend in Hanoi during a family trip to Vietnam with our 19-month old son. The hotel offered the best in terms of its personal touches, excellent service and rich historical past. It was centrally located South of Hoan Kiem Lake, just ten minutes walk to the Old Quarter. The rooms were tastefully done up in a style befitting the fascinating history of the hotel, where famous authors such as Graham Greene and Somerset Maugham had stayed. The concierge, reception and bell boys were all quick to assist with our every need. We had actually lost a precious belonging on the train from Sapa and the hotel even offered to send a staff with us to lodge the police report, to avoid difficulties in communication. We were touched by the concern shown to us over our lost belonging. Our son had five-star treatment with an extremely comfortable cot and a bath set for babies, complete with a rubber ducky. The beds were extremely comfortable, and though the I felt the pillows were too high, there was a pillow menu and the problem was soon solved. We will not only recommend this hotel to our friends, but we are planning to stay here again should we come back to Hanoi. Other hotels have a lot to learn from the Sofitel Metropole in terms of upholding its high service standards.
"Excellent"

The counter staffs were friendly and helpful. The hotel helped me to book a Ha Long Bay tour and it was fuss free. The location of the hotel was excellent and the room was basic but clean. It is definitly value for money to stay in this hotel
"A great experience in Hanoi"

A great five star hotel. Located strategically near old quarter where you can walk around easily and look for various culinary and shopping experience. The hotel looks old, but still elegant and beautiful. Rooms are very comfortable and nice.
"Mixed bag"
9th February 2012, Hong Kong, China
We stayed in the old wing. The rooms are very small and much, much too dark. We also viewed the rooms in the opera wing. They are brighter and larger, but soul-less. The suites are better, but costs a lot more. The staff is efficient on the whole, with the exception of the French manager or assistant manager who checked our party of 9 people in. He was terribly slow, kept making mistakes, and would not allow his staff to help out. The Vietnamese restaurant is expensive and not very good.
"Absolutely stunning"
30th January 2012, Suzie H, Melbourne, Australia
This is a beautiful heritage building that is a delight to stay in. We felt very special here! We had a late supper in one the restaurants and breakfast in another prior to leaving to go to Halong Bay. It was really lovely and everyone was very helpful.
