"good value luxury with a few problems"

The beach, pool, breakfast buffet and rooms are outstanding. The beds are amazing but the ponds in the parc are full of very noisy frogs!The staff is very friendly but the service can be slow probably because the hotel was overbooked. Some guests lack manner as my bag and its contents was removed from my chair and the direction of the hotel didn't react as soon as I signaled the problem and managed to check the video footage only the following day. We were given beach bags as a compensation.View management response »

I recently went to Sofitel in Mauritius after i had been to the melbourne hotel and had a pleasant time there. This cannot be said for this hotel. There were several problems i had with this hotel. To begin with, my girlfriend and I had found sand and hair in the bed, also the bar fridge had been locked for some reason and after informing the reception (in person) of this problem, she said she would send someone down to have it opened. 2 hours later no one came. So i called reception and 15 minutes afterward someone finally came to unlock the bar fridge. Secondly i had a big problem with the restaurants. I STRONGLY suggest that if you do stay at this hotel you will not bother going to their restaurants and are better off to explore Mauritius. We had gone to the Tamassa Bar for lunch, the price was expensive and the food was not good value but that was to be expected for hotels, but the service was atrocious. I asked for a beer and the waiter never brought it to me, so i asked for the bill and the waiter said he would get it. 15 minutes later he had not come and when he noticed we were still waiting he asked the 5 people who were standing at the bar if anyone had given the bill and no one had even bothered replying. POOR SERVICE. Same thing happened in the Ming Court restaurant. I asked for a coke and it came out to me 20 minutes later, even though the restaurant was dead and i saw the waiter who took my order walking around looking clueless as to where the coke was! Also, the manager or head of this restaurant was very rude. The only good thing i can say about this hotel is the building and atmosphere, and the pool was amazing. But unfortunately thats as far as it goes.View management response »

MY stay at this resort was a great end to a month of travel very relaxing staff were great i stayed in a suite it was great ,with a few small problems little ants ,but your in the middle of a tropical garden and the tv went out for the last 2 days and no one fixed it .town is only 5 min. away by cab 400:00 ruppee round trip taxi to airport 1800:00 ruppee one wayView management response »

Marvellous room excellent restaurants and great staff who arranged everything including airport transfers and allowed us late checkout highly recommended. This was a stopover returning from a stay in Europe so the idea was to relax and do little and this was the ideal place to do so.
