"Salzburg the beautiful"

Had a great stay in Salzburg as luckily the weather was great on the first day. Dinner at Taj Mahal restaurant and the walk in the evening of the city was the highlight of the tour. Was lucky to get a guided tour of Sound of music movies locations through Daud(met him through Boshan of Taj Mahal restaurant). It was worth paying him to see the outskirts of the city.

"Quality Hotel, Good Location."

Myself and my wife stayed at the hotel for 3 days in July 2011 and found the hotel spotlessly clean. The people at the reception were very helpful in assistance for transit and tourist information. The Hotel is bit far from the Old Town, but is connected to it by a bus with a stop close by. And the old town can be reached by 15 mins walk as well.Overall, I am quite satisfied with the hotel and the hospitality.

"Summer without air cinditionning"

In the morning noisy rooms facing back, no air conditionning is awfull - it was 33-34degrees. Location not bad - close to lots of reastaurants and nice streets and buildings. Sevice good, really. Wi-fi acces good, I did not try hotel restaurant, sorry

"Would probably have been a nice hotel 10 years ago"

I had booked a package that came with the following description: "The package includes accomodation and breakfast + a bottle of water + a city map + a City Pass or The City Bag Mercure (according to the hotel's choice). Late check out until 4 pm (according to availibility)." The staff appeared to know nothing about the package and I had to explain several times. I was then offered a paper bag which I thought was a bit of a joke. Without wishing to waste time arguing, I left to go sightseeing. On my return I did receive a voucher for a free drink at the hotel bar in lieu of the bottled water and a 24-hour bus pass. It was no big deal but the first impression wasn't great.The room was okay but very old and tired. It was also stuffy even though it was actually reasonably cool outside. There was no aircon and the only way to keep the window open was to place a chair in front of it. I was just thankful that I did not come in the middle of summer. The room I had was right next to the lift so I could hear it going up and down. The lift itself is also one of the oldest that I have seen.It's in a quiet area with literally nothing around it, although the 1km walk into old town didn't really bother me. Overall it's not bad value for money, but definitely not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel.

The package was loaded centrally in Paris, the information was not sent out before and indeed we learned from our guest about the package. Nevertherles, the way our Receptionist acted was really inappropriate and I will do my outmost to train my staff better. "Mercure Salzburg City"

It was rather difficult to find the hotel because there are 2 Mercures here. The receptionists and the restaurant staffs were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and there was free internet access for guests. However, the cleaners didn't work well. The shower gel bottle was almost empty when we checked in so on the second day we had to ask for it with the receptionist. We also found that the towels were not changed for 4 days and though we put the dirty towel in the bath tub, it was returned unwashed on the following day but we were too tired to report to the receptionist again!
