"Improving"

The restaurant had improved since 2011 visit, but "foam"pillows make it difficult to get comfortable and get a good nights sleep.
"Ibis Hotel Calais Car Ferry - very good"
26th April 2012, adamu_kun, Taipei
We had to stay in the Calais Ibis hotel as I was scheduled to be in London for the following week and could not get a flight into London at all (we live in Taipei, Taiwan), so we had to get a flight to Amsterdam. As it landed at 20h00, we hired a car, drove down and got the ferry the following morning. We arrived at 02h00 and the hotel was very easy to find from the motorway and was in a quiet residential area. I would not call it a dodgy area (as some people have written) as it was well-lit and clean. Yes, there is a high fence around the car park, but that's more for security I guess and to stop people from climbing over from the hotel and falling into the ditch. The gentleman on reception was very friendly, checked us in very quickly and provided us with necessary drinks and nibbles after our drive. He was very pleasent, friendly and efficient, just the thing as we were jet lagged after a 16 hour flight and 4.5 hour drive. I cannot fault it but cannot provide feedback on if they spoke English or not, as we speak French. What was even better, he asked us if we wanted a smoking room or a non-smoking room and, after that drive and being so knackered, we were very pleased to be able to smoke inside rather than freezing outside, as we had yet to acclimatise to European weather. Very good and very thoughtful of him to ask. Big thumbs up for the smoking room, too!The checkout was fast and efficient the following morning and it was only a 5 minute drive to the ferry port, which was well signed. We were able to get an early ferry and made good time in coming to the UK.The Ibis is a budget chain, so is not supposed to be the Grand Hyatt, but it does what it is supposed to do, that is providing clean room, friendly staff and a quiet but convenient location. I would definitely stay there again if I was travelling through Calais to the UK or the other way around.
"Night out in Calais"

Not strictly near the Car Ferry and a little out-of-town, but this is a reasonable hotel, which provides good servive. All needs met, but a little expensive compared to most Ibis hotels.
"Stop over"
16th April 2012, ballingarry
This hotel is well located in Calais and on arriving from the UK after a day travelling from Ireland is easy to get to from the Euro tunnel terminal. The quality of the dinner and breakfast and is excellent. The rooms may be slightly on the small side but are nevertheless comfortable. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area and we slept very well. We stay at this hotel on average 3 times a year on our way from Ireland to Germany and find it very convenient and comfortable and well located.
"Reasonable, basic hotel"
3rd February 2012
Convenient location less than 10mins from ferry with good car park. Adequate for overnight stops en route elsewhere. Reasonable bar/restaurant with lots of choice and friendly staff. Buffet breakfast ok - lots of bread choices, cereal, meat cheese etc.. Clean room but quite small with dated decor.
"Stay at Ibis Calais"

Ideal location for both car ferry and shuttle. Good parking facilities on site. Meal good quality and value. Pleasant rooms. Location is generally quiet with no early morning noise. Buffet breakfast was good with a nice range of choices.
"Ibis Calais"

First stop in France after cross channel train trip in hire car. Reasonably easy to find and access. This venue provided a good evening before moving on the following day and it was quite economical in my opinion.
"Small rooms and expensive beer."
18th September 2011, Blackwood, United Kingdom
Whilst the rooms were very clean and functional they are tiny, with just enough room around the bed to walk (sideways) I think Americans would find them a joke. The food and drink available is good but very very expensive (1664 over £7/pint. burger & fries £13.00 +) The Calais wine super store is only 2 minutes away, where you can get a bottle for €2.20, cheapest in the hotel €17.50 table plonk.
"Rusticity at its best!"
4th September 2011, Llandudno, United Kingdom
Great modern hotel with rustic charm. Rooms are always clean if a little on the small side. Staff seem to be different each time, but always polite and helpful. If you can, always use the hotel restaurant, you'll get great vfm and a superb taster of French rusticity at its finest! We love this hotel. Book early and you'll get the best price.
"Great stopover in Calais"
3rd September 2011, London
We arrived at the hotel at 9.30pm, were greeted warmly by the receptionist and told that the restaurant was open until 10.30. This was a pleasant surprise as we had travelled there straight from work. We had an excellent bistro-style dinner and breakfast was good too. The only down side was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms.
"Stop over on route"
2nd September 2011, bangor
As a stop over before catching the shuttle the hotel was fine, but not for more than one night. Ibis is pretty predictable and this one is on typical. Nice to have a restaurant in the hotel as it saved searching for a meal. The staff friendly and helpful, pity they do not accept the loyalty card in France on week nights.
