"Red Cow Ibis"
22nd September 2013, Trickydickie9, Fordingbridge
Room was as expected, basic but clean and adequate for short stay. Good shower room. I found the towels a bit small and the lighting a bit low (no overhead lamps), but overall adequate. The duvet was too hot for me, no alternative available in room. Staff very helpful and the one meal I had was fine. Handy for public transport (Luas and airport buses etc), but a longish walk (about 10-12 minutes) to the bus/tram stops with suitcases, especially in the rain! Perfectly ok for a short stay.View management response »
Management responseDear Guest,Thank you for your constructive comments and information about the access to the Luas Tram.I am very pleased to see you found the hotel clean and you had a nice dinner in our restaurant. For your next visit we can always help with the duvet. We have blankets and sheets to replace. The can also provide extra towels and all of this 24/24. Had all the attributes of your average hotel Exactly what you would expect from your stay. The rooms given to ourselves were to close to lift so sleep was interrupted throughout the night but suppose its just look of the draw, but would not want to be in same rooms again if we stayed againView management response »
Management responseDear Guest,Thank you very much for your constructive comments. I am sincerely sorry to hear about the noise. We hope this will not deter you coming back at the Ibis hotel Dublin West.Kind regardsPatrick Le HenaffGeneral ManagerIbis Hotel Dublin

Excellent as always. Better than a lot of more expensive hotels. The service is great. breakfast lovely and there's even a mug for a cup of tea.The one quibble I have is the pillows !! They are uncomfortable. Next time I will bring my own.View management response »

In terms of value for money it was ok, time for the rooms to be redecorated and new carpet laid. Public areas are fine and breakfast was very good. For a short term stay would reccomend butany more than two nights go a bit more upmarket.View management response »

"Overnight stay at Ibis, Dublin"

Located off the M50 in Dublin the hotel was very easy to find - their website also had good directions. I chose this Hotel as it was an easy drive to the port to get the ferry in the morning and welcomed pets, so my daughter and I were able to have our dog in the room with us. I had to pay an extra 5 Euros for the dog on arrival. The room and ensuite was very clean, with a king size and a single bed. I had requested a twin room. The beds were very comfortable, bedding very clean. Towels were spotless too. There was a kettle, cups, tea and coffee in the room. There was also a dining room serving meals until quite late into the evening and a full breakfast from 6.30am. Food was available 24hrs if requested, but we made use of neither. A couple of gripes - the evening was quite warm and the window was only able to be opened a few inches so the room became quite hot. With the window open the noise of the traffic was quite loud as were the fans on the roof of the kitchens below us. However as the night drew on the fans stopped and the traffic noise was less. No noise from within the hotel. Quite a lot of light through the window, all night, from the motorway lighting - though there were blackout curtains we needed them open to get some air into the room.We arrived early evening and wanted to unwind from a long drive by watching the TV and a DVD. However the TV didn't work and didn't have an integral DVD anyway (which probably would be useful in a family room). However, we had a laptop with us so were able to watch Harry Potter after all!Despite traffic noise and light we were able to sleep as well as one can in a strange environment.I would recommend the Ibis Hotel as an overnight stay if you have a dog and need to be near the port. it might also be useful to stay here as a base for exploring Dublin as it is near a tram stop into the City.View management response »

not as good as other hotels I have stayed at Very basic extremely hot at night and leaving window open resulted in lots of traffic noise and we were overhead where the staff had their smoking breaks... definitely could do with better ventilationView management response »
Management responseI am so sorry you were disapointed with your stay, regarding the heat we do have fans subject to being availailble upon request and this may have helped with the unusual Irish hot weather we have been having. I am sorry that you felt your conversation was heard by the staff outside and will check for the traffic noise level outside your room, this I would like to say is not usual as there is somewhat of a distance between the traffic and the staff area outside. I would hope that you do give our hotel another chance whenever you choose to stay in Dublin again to improve on this stay.Sharon HoyteDuty Manager

Clean Hotel at a useful junction if in a car....reception friendly and helpful...room quiet..beds amazingly comfortable and they take dogs for just 5 euro extra. Didn't eat there but bought drinks at a dessert at the bar which were fine...we noticed a couple of people had problems with their internet but our connected just fineView management response »
