This is a great hotel. It is an easy walking distance to the cathedral and many restaurants. The rooms are spacious with extra pillows and a water tea kettle. The breakfast is delicious with lots of choices. Rooms are quiet, space is super helpful. This is a great place to stay!

Check in was excellent and very quick. We arrived late on a flight into the local airport and within a couple of minutes we were in our room. The room wasn't the biggest, and upon looking at the plan there were some with more space. However, we were only there for two nights to there was adequate space for that. There was a fridge in the room with some complimentary drinks which I appreciated after travelling all day. The toilet and the rest of the bathroom were separate in our room, which was a little inconvenient as you then had to go to the bathroom with the sink in to wash your hands. It would be better to include a small sink for hand washing in the separate toilet room for it to be useful. The bed was very comfortable and I slept really well. I would definitely use this hotel again in the future as it was close to the city centre (5-10 minute walk) and there was a bus to the train station right next to the hotel. Although the services were not very frequent (hourly) if you time it this was really helpful as we had luggage with us.

The hotel has quite a number of pluses: attractive, well-located building, smart modern interior, generally well-designed rooms… But there are some (mostly minor) negatives too. Finding your way into it by car through the one way system is difficult, as the obvious route is “no entry”. They had told me when I booked that there was a free hotel carpark. What they didn’t say was that there were only half a dozen places, though happily we got the last one. Otherwise, it wasn’t clear what the nearby long stay solution would have been. The welcome was average: they didn’t have the key ready despite my checking in online 2 days before and they needed prompting to produce the voucher for the Accor loyalty welcome drink. Also it was firmly only for the cardholder, not for his companion too, as in some more generous Mercures. There was a touch of meanness about the equipping of the room. One tea bag. No free water in the fridge – but a note inviting us to spend 7 Euros on a reusable bottle which they would then fill for us! (There are other ways of achieving “zero plastic”, eg glass bottles as in the Amiens Mercure or cartons and tins as in Clermont-Ferrand.) The tiniest of paper cups for making tea. (No wonder they thought one tea bag would do for both guests!) Only two plugs for charging things, though admittedly there were four USB points. Breakfast had the same sense of putting out as little as they could get away with and spreading it sparsely over too wide an area. There was an almost total absence of staff as well, so that when the inadequate supply of croissants ran out at about 8.20 it took a long time to find someone to ask for more and then, by the time they were baked, we had effectively finished. The layout of the provisions also defied any logic, with milk as far away from the cereals as the size of the room allowed! Overall though, the quality of what was on offer was fine. It was about 10-20 Euros a night more than some of the other Mercures that we use quite regularly, without much obvious justification, except that the Beauvais restaurants also seemed above averagely expensive for what they were too. Nonetheless, if Beauvais offered a decent restaurant or two (see separate 3 star review of Le Senso, widely regarded as the best in town) I would use it again as an acceptably convenient and comfortable stopover.

Stopped her for one night on our way further south and were not disappointed. The hotel has been well designed and is clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and had better English than I had French (not hard!) Breakfast was excellent, if a little pricey. We managed to park on the street outside but the hotel does have half a dozen or so car parking spaces. There is also a large car park just across the road which normally you have to pay for but because we visited in August all car parking in Beauvais was free 'because there are so few people in the city'! The hotel is located close to the cathedral and from there it's a quick walk to all the town centre attractions. Would certainly stop here again when in Beauvais.

Really nice hotel and well located. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Ideally placed for Beauvais city centre which is 5 mins walk away and a lovely quaint small city. 15 mins from Beauvais airport by car and central Paris is one hour and ten mins away by train. Hotel could be exceptional if reception staff were more customer orientated and friendly. Only one receptionist was friendly throughout the entire stay and the rest were very passive and, in some cases, rude – on checkout receptionist could not be bothered to ask if we enjoyed our stay or even a basic “Au Revoir” – just scurried into back room after checkout without a backward glance to me and my two teenage daughters! Maybe this is just the French way? Bar area by reception needs to be more welcoming too along with attracting guests to the hotel restaurant – with a bit of staff training I’m sure this hotel could be excellent and maximise revenue – as it is, good but could be better for guests. However, hotel is reasonable in terms of charges and would visit again. Come on Mercure Beauvais – up your game and make the hotel a better experience for guests and maximise your profits!
