Best beach hotel in Recife

Went as 3 people - 2 adults and a teen. This is our second stay at this hotel. When making the reservation online the only option for the days we wanted was a room with 2 single beds and a sofa bed. Turns out the single beds are big enough to fit 2 people comfortably so we didn't even use the sofa bed. It was a side room on the 10th floor, but all rooms have a decent view of the ocean so being a side room was not a negative issue. After about 4 days we got a free upgrade to a superior ocean front room with a king size bed with a separate area with a single bed which was awesome. The separate area had its own TV and window. This room was on the 7th floor. Breakfast was always excellent. Staff very polite. I noticed that a lot of reviews here are either love it or hate it, my explanation for this is that everything depends on what type of room you get. The hotel is undergoing renovations so not all rooms are new. If you don't get a renovated room you might have some issues. Like my last year's review, I again will emphasize that you should avoid the beach area immediately in front of the hotel because the people renting the beach chairs and umbrellas are going to overprice everything. Just go a block north and don't get charged for chairs and umbrellas, as long as you buy a couple of drinks and/or snacks from the chair owners in that area. Way cheaper and there is no difference. Example: one coconut water in front of hotel: 17 Reais. One block north: 6 Reais.

Reserved GRAN MERCURE in Recife, Brazilian northeast, beachfront. Res #: NFTSHWTQ 1) FAKE PHOTOS AT ALL ACCOR APP: the room pictures are NOT real. Real is: 20 years old, ugly, full of broken things – the hotel is the most expensive of Accor in Recife!! 2) After undress, noticed that air conditioning was broken and impossible to control – only full power, high noisy (20 year old air conditioned), when tried to call front desk – guess what. Phone was broken too! 3) Front desk: change the room. Ok; 4) Room # 621. Arrive at room, opened the door – IT WAS OCCUPIED! Couple screamed and I claimed for sorry. Went back to front desk; 5) 9 people in line in front desk due to the lack of personal; 6) New room assigned; 7) Same 20 year old with broken stuff etc. At least the air conditioning was working with possibility to control on/off. Speed control, forget it of course. APP MUST SAY (hotel will be renovated) giving customers the option to choose another hotel. MUCH MORE FOR LOYAL CUSTOMERS LIKE ME!

The room was fine, average. The hotel lobby is being redone. It will probably be nice when it's done. The front desk spoke OK English, but it was pretty hit and miss otherwise. The restaurant was meh. The location of the hotel isn't all that great. Seemed safe enough, but there wasn't much nearby in terms of restaurants and, even though the beach is right across the street, it doesn't seem to be a popular part of the beach. At least when we were there. So, an average place in a location where there isn't much around it.

The most incompetent desk staff I’ve ever encountered. Beyond inept. - unable to process an invoice - unable to correct the expenses in error - unable to add my address to the bill - all of this over a 30 minute wait My advice: avoid unless someone else will go through the agony of paying your bill at check out

Don’t go there if refreshing is not finish !

the worst Mercure that I never seen.. (I travel a lot ) everything is old and broken, walls, plugs, bathroom, spa closed, restaurant closed … I went downstairs to share my sadness, I saw the incapacity of the poor guy! ( professional anyway👍🏻) He tried to show me another one, but it was similar. Actually the hotel is in refreshing, but please! Close it! We pay full price ! For half service can’t stand that , All Accor group allow it!? Yes beach is very closed, butit does not make everything!
