Ibis Budget Saint Genis Pouilly Geneva Review I recently stayed at Ibis Budget Saint Genis Pouilly Geneva and found it to be an excellent value for money. The triple rooms were adequately sized, but the double rooms felt too cramped for comfort. Breakfast options were limited, offering low variety. Additionally, the cafeteria tended to get crowded during evening and night hours, which made it a bit inconvenient. On the positive side, the hotel offers stunning views of the Alps, which was a definite highlight of the stay. Another plus point was the presence of EV chargers, a great convenience for electric vehicle owners. However, I was disappointed that the bikes provided by the hotel were out of service during rainy conditions, which limited outdoor exploration. Overall, while the hotel offers some fantastic features like the Alps view and EV chargers, improvements in room sizes and breakfast variety would make the stay even better.

It was a very good experience.It is in the border of Switz. nd infact into the border of France.Little far from Geneva.But, small, beautiful & value for price.It has a morning quick breakfast option.Then it has quick bite options.Located in a serene place nd if you are lucky , u ll get a lot if Sun for sure.Nearby it, there is a small village where u can have good dining option..This hotel kind of grew on me as I stayed in it more.

Good value option for visiting CERN but please read this review for tips on access

Good value option for visit CERN I brought my 16 year old son for his birthday on a trip to visit CERN. My son is an avid physicist and mathematician and his dream is to work at CERN one day. We booked through Expedia. Pros; * Obviously the cost * 10 minute walk to the bus stop (more on this later) * Friendly staff * Tasty continental breakfast that is well worth adding onto your booking as there really isn’t anywhere else to eat of a morning * Dog friendly (we didn’t have a dog but I consider this a plus) * Plenty of parking (we also didn’t have a car but noted there was plenty of parking) * 10 minute walk to a small supermarket for snacks etc Cons; * Small room, the second bed was hidden in the wall which was unexpected * The hotel is inexplicably boiling hot even in November, thankfully the window of the bedroom does open which provides relief but the room AC seemed pointless * Very limited food/drink options outside of the breakfast- there are two vending machines which sell soda/water etc and some lemon tea/coffee * No tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom. As a British person I consider this to be some form of torture to have to go without proper tea for an extended period! * Potentially confusing name given there is another Ibis a stone’s throw away * Pedestrian access is not obvious, especially at night and is possibly dangerous * Outright lies about distance of the hotel to CERN - Expedia had this listed as a ‘15 minute walk’ and I can only assume this was based walking at the speed of Usain Bolt The biggest point of contention for me is the location/access to the hotel. We booked because we believed it was an easy walk from the hotel to CERN, but wanted to write this review to clarify for any future travellers that this is not the case at all. CERN itself is best thought of as being similar to a university campus, insomuch as it is compiled of many various buildings spread out across Geneva on both the French and Swiss sides. It may be reasonably said that you could walk for 15 minutes and be in the general vicinity of CERN property but you are certainly not at the entrance of CERN. Rather, CERN is best accessed by taking the number 68 bus from outside the Carrefour supermarket. This is also how you would access the hotel to and from the airport - however for the airport you need bus 66. If you choose to walk to CERN from the hotel, I would estimate a time or more like 60-80 minutes and I’m not sure how pedestrian friendly the route would be given than it is along a main road. When at CERN you will be delighted by the visitors centre and the friendly staff. There was some confusion on my part regarding airport transfers and the name of the hotel. This is the Ibis Saint Genius Pouilly Budget, there is also an Ibis Saint Genis Pouilly. I had not realised this and when booking it is not made clear to you either. The non-budget hotel offers a free hotel shuttle service. When I was researching how to get to the hotel from the airport, I saw a page about free hotel transfers and saw the hotel ‘Ibis Saint Genis Pouilly’ on the list, so assumed our hotel would benefit from the transfer. However when we tried to access the shuttle bus at the airport, it caused confusion as my booking could not be found. Initially I was concerned that my hotel was no longer booked, until we worked out that there were two different hotels. Anyway, getting to the airport is not too challenging as you simply need to get bus 66, and prices are reasonable (less than 5 Euros per person) It takes approx 35 minutes and drops you to the bus stop outside the Carrefour. This is then a 10 minute walk to the Budget Ibis. However- we arrived in the dark. The route to the hotel is not at all obvious as the proper route is essentially through a field, for which there is precisely zero lighting. You will need torches/phone lights to navigate through this area, which I frankly feel is dangerous and negligent. Because I wasn’t sure where to walk, as there were no signs and nothing had been communicated to us about how to access the hotel, we ended up walking about 40 minutes from the bus stop with our luggage, in the dark, through residential and industrial areas trying to find the hotel. When in fact it is a simple 10 minute walk, had there been signs and lighting then it would have saved a lot of effort which is why I write all of this now to hopefully help future clients of this resort. In summary this hotel is perfectly acceptable as a play to stay when visiting CERN, providing you understand how to actually get there. I do feel that the hotel should immediately invest in signs and lighting for the pathway for guests who arrive or leave in the dark. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and found the hotel very clean and the food tasty.

Be aware that in October the hotel went into heating mode following the low temperatures. For your comfort you can turn off the heating or open the window. In iconomic hotels like ours the kettles are not offered in the rooms. To access the hotel you have 2 possibilities - go through the unlit field or through the Pedestrian access that goes around the hotel and is well lit but unfortunately not very well indicated. Basic, need a car, but excellent value given proximity to Geneva

I have stayed in a few Ibis recently when I literally wanted the room to sleep in only. This was my first time in an Ibis Budget and I wondered how much more basic Ibis can be. Well, it is basic. A bed and a bathroom. But the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom functions with decent towels and shower gel. The reason to stay is because it is cheap. I paid Eur70 on a night when the Ibis in Geneva was over Eur300. It's a 10 min drive to the airport, and if you have a car this is a perfectly serviceable location. If you don't have a car, it's really middle of nowhere. When I left at 5.30am, breakfast was already being served. That's unheard of in most hotels, especially France.
