Met ian on reception as we arrived, very friendly, very helpful, asked us the reason for our stay and as it was an anniversary we were upgraded to suite, given a drinks voucher for the bar and a complimentary late checkout. Checkin and checkout was simple and quick, every member of staff we passed spoke to us and were very friendly. Hotel looked after our bags after our stay aswell so we could explore Manchester without a suitcase. Room was very clean, well stocked and a nice place to be. View from the 14th floor was really good, could see Manchester citys ground, which isn't the hotels fault! Being really picky a couple of bits in the bathroom could probably do with a refresh but it took away nothing from the stay or the service. Would definitely consider staying again if we visited Manchester in the future. Thanks

Tea and coffee in lobby

Just visited, as small group of 4 adults. Ordered 3 coffees and 1 tea from the lobby area. Waitress pleasant and timely in her service; however, served 2 coffee and 2 teas? The beverages were all served in disposable paper cups, with extra sachets of milk if required. The tea was luke warm, tea bags left in the cup. Surley, we should at least have the milk served separately, so we can judge the amount to add....and it wouldn't be unreasonable to serve the tea in a pot, with crockery? Realise cost savings are important; nevertheless, this was not acceptable for a hotel of this star rating. It felt like a 'down market' fast food restaurant. The hotel used to be, in the late sixties, a premier hospitality venue in Manchester; today, it was more of an embarrassment with colleagues from different parts of the UK.

We stayed on the weekend of the Manchester Marathon at inflated prices. The room was standard fare but I felt that the bed was uncomfortable. We could also hear the conversation of the people next door through thin walls. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. The location is also good. I felt that the price was high but I assume that was because it was the marathon weekend which sadly leaves me feeling exploited. Their car park is difficult to spot as the entrance is immediately adjacent to the large NCP signs for that car park. This should be explained in the hotel literature.

Good value hotel, check in was very quick and friendly also glass of Prosecco which was a nice touch. Room clean, bathroom a bit dated but ok for overnight stay. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices and again lovely friendly staff. Found getting to hotel by car a bit of a nightmare, one way streets everywhere along with bus only routes. Car park also bit misleading as NCP next to it and ended up parking in there as signs for hotel car park not clearly seen. Cost more! Overall if you get room at a reasonable price as we did then would definitely recommend this hotel
