Cold. Over priced. Avoid

Cold. Over priced. Small. Room heated by small oil radiator. Made complaint. Was offered to relocated. Was advised it was also likely to be cold. Issues referred to an invisible twice. No one available. For £200+ a night hotel. This isnt even what I expect from a 50quid travel lodge.

Better than expected. Room was small but had everything needed. Bathroom was nice with toiletries. Location excellent. Staff very helpful and breakfast was good value for money. Asked for a quiet room and got one tucked away. No view bit also no noise so perfect for our needs.

Nice stay shame about the stains.

Room was large had a suite, bed was comfortable, only thing that let the room down was stains on carpet and marks on wall / skirting boards. Bathroom was well appointed, staff were friendly and helpful. Paid for parking in advance which was easy. Location on a whole was excellent. Would stay again.

I would expect a four star hotel to at least have tablecloths on the tables and the cutlery set out for dinner but this was more like any cafe with cutlery in a tin can and various styles of tables looking tired and worn. We were never shown a menu. Food was set out on a help yourself table without any service from the staff. Very average dinner with frozen mixed vegs followed by cheesecake that looked and tasted as though it had been out of the fridge all afternoon. The same the following evening with pudding being a small slice of plain cake - no cream, custard or ice cream at all. After much complaining from our group, there was definite improvement with the food the following (our last) evening. My bedroom was dark. Lighting was poor. The website offered a grabrail in the shower, cleaning supplies, a desk. These did not exist. No suitable socket for hair accessories or anywhere to put them. There was no drinks fridge. Some water and tissues would have been a nice gesture. All in all, definitely not the standard I was expecting and I would not recommend this hotel.

I've been fortunate enough to travel the world and stay in all manner of places from village pubs, through chains to boutiques to world famous 'grand dame' hotels. This hotel doesn't cut it on just about any level bar two (hence the two stars)... The location is great for Bristol's attractions and the bed was comfortable, not the best I've slept in but decent enough. And that's about it. The decor in the restaurant includes lamp shades made from old jam jars and washing machine drums sprayed yellow (what's that all about?) and the 'industrial chic' extends to the bedroom where the drab camouflage green walls help to make it a depressing place with the pitiful lighting (desk lamps used as wall lights?). The lack of attention to detail, however, was highlighted by the doorframe being two different shades of that muddy green. I love a good breakfast when someone else is cooking it. Didn't get one here though... The 'hot' food was cold and unappetising, sitting forlornly in its own grease and with solid, rubbery, fried eggs or a scrambled version that didn't appear to have had any interaction with a live chicken. The coffee (from a machine as we wouldn't want the staff to be inconvenienced by actually serving guests would we?) was only marginally warmer than the food. So if you really MUST stay here, don't bother paying for breakfast, just get up, get out and find somewhere local where they actually know how to cook...
