Lovely hotel but let down by customer service.

This is a lovely hotel, and it's great for kids with the pool, etc., but sadly, the staff let me down. I originally booked a family room and paid online. It was not until a few days later that I noticed that I hadn't received a confirmation email for my booking. I had screenshotted the reference number of my original booking, so called and asked if i had a reservation. I was told the reservation had been canceled, but I was only told it may have been a "glitch." I received no cancellation email. I am so glad I queried this when I did. I was then told the room I wanted to book was sold out and the more expensive option was available. So, I booked the hotel and paid the higher price, even though the cancellation wasn't my fault! We arrived at the hotel and were welcomed by staff. The hotel was very friendly and great for what we needed. Our bedroom was a good size, and the beds were comfortable. My daughter played with her toys while I put our bathroom bits away, etc. The next thing I knew, my 3-year-old daughter had half a can of beer in her hand and was calling me to tell me. One of her toys had rolled under the bed, and she had gone to find it and found an open beer instead. I checked under the bed, and the carpet was wet from the beer. I went to reception, as there were no phones in the room. I explained what my child had just found and was told, "Housekeeping are normally good". I was told a manager would come to my room to speak to us. After waiting and hearing nothing, I returned to reception and explained we were still waiting. He called someone and said they should be there now. I went back to the room, and I was met by someone I think was in charge of housekeeping. She moved the bed out of the way and said sorry, but it wasn't her fault, as she hadn't cleaned the room. I said I was more concerned about the fact that a 3-year-old had had access to alcohol. She then told me it wasn't her fault again, Apologized, and left. My eldest daughter had already left to go out, or I think I may have left entirely because no one seemed to care. I booked the hotel mainly because of the pool I had promised my daughter we would go to. The pool was clean and well-equipped, and towels were easy to find. When we left the pool, the same; lady who had vivisted our room asked if we had robes in our room (I presume what I paid extra for in my booking) I said no and she said she would send some up. We waited but needed to get some dinner, so I thought they would be there when we returned to the room, but I couldn't see them. When we packed up to leave the next day and opened the wardrobe, the robes and slippers had been put away in there, and there were only two, and we had four guests in our room, so there wasn't enough anyway, and we had no need for them by then. The breakfast was good, and there was plenty of choice for everyone. When we left, I spoke to Megan at the desk, and she was very apologetic and took some notes. I don't usually leave reviews, but it could have been a different outcome if my daughter hadn't been sensible enough not to drink what she had found, and I don't think the staff cared what had happened.

Nice stay, but left a personal belonging behind which has disappeared

I had a nice experience staying at this hotel with my friends in February. We stayed for two nights, which was pleasant enough. Walking distance from city centre and nice rooms. On the downside i did leave an item in my room - initially the hotel did call my friend (who made the booking) to let her know. I emailed the hotel and was advised by a member of staff to arrange a courier to collect the item. After i did this and emailed the hotel the confirmation details, I didn’t hear back from them again. I have emailed a few times and are being seemingly ignored. As the item left behind was not cheap, I can’t help but feel like I have been played. If someone from the hotel would like to contact me regarding this, it would be appreciated.

Excellent hotel within walking distance of the city centre and bay area. Friendly staff to greet you on check in, with plenty of car parking onsite. Rooms are very comfortable and clean, with good quality curtains/black out to ensure a good nights sleep. Public areas are spotless, and the restaurant/bar area a vibrant place to hang out. We didn't eat lunch or dinner, but did have breakfast which was of a very good quality, with plenty of choice. My only criticism is the bar area could do with chairs/sofas for those just enjoying a drink, rather than having to sit at a dining table. We visit Cardiff a lot and will definitely be returning to the Novotel!

Nice enough and great location for the city centre

The restaurant was nice, could do with some extra bar staff at times, but was nice to have a meal in the restaurant one evening. The hot tub and steam room need to be hotter as both were not hot. The gym was well equipped if a little on the small side. The bedroom was nice, comfy bed and well furnished. The bathroom was a little tired and despite staying several nights house keeping did not refill the shower fell which I would have expected without needing to ask. If you are looking for a cheap hotel this is worth a visit due tot eh comfy bed and location.

We had a lovely stay. Our family came to meet us for lunch in The Customs Shed and Lit and Catia were fantastic. Lit was so helpful at breakfast for the rest of our stay. We will definitely stay again when visiting family. Great location and very convenient.
