Convenient hotel to the Strasbourg Railway Station

An overnight stay on the way to the Swiss Alps found us in this hotel. It had been a hot day and the airconditioning could not cope with the temperature in the evening. The room was clean, but 'old'. Breakfast was basic, but enjoyable. Very convenient being opposite the Strasbourg railway station.

Great location if you're arriving by train

The hotel is very handy indeed if you're arriving in Strasbourg by train. It's literally right opposite the train station. It's within easy walking distance (10 minutes or so) of the main town centre. I stayed here twice in quick succession to break a London-Prague return train journey, and was very happy with it. The staff were professional and helpful, breakfast was good (with fewer cooked items than Brits will be used to, but plenty of choice from the cold buffet and one or two hot items), and there was nothing wrong with my room. I think I was probably upgraded to a superior room on my first stay, as my room was considerably smaller the second time round. It's probably worth paying the extra for a superior room if you're planning on spending much time in the room.

Cons: Tiny rooms, no fridge, lack of airco ( not working properly when we stayed there), not super close to the centre (about 1km), not recognising members Pros: extremely kind staff ( especially the Indian lady at breakfast), great breakfast, decently priced, close to the train station, rental car agencies. Would recommend

I stayed for work for 3 nights. The location was ideal especially as I arrived late and left early by train. The room itself was a bit shabby (broken and stained sink, stained carpets etc). However it was clean and comfortable. I did not pre pay for breakfast, but decided to have it on the first morning. At Euros 17.50 it was very expensive so I decided not to have breakfast again. On check in they had taken a card for "city tax" even though I thought I had already paid this through expedia (approx 7 euros for unknown taxes!). On check out they didn't say there would be any charge. But then proceeded to charge my card almost 60Euros! For two breakfasts I didn't even have and the one I did and of course this city tax. I am still trying to get the hotel to refund me. I do not understand how they can charge you without issuing a receipt, and certainly how they can charge you for meals you never even ate! Surely this is illegal? Shocking.

The staff were unhelpful and rude. We had great difficulty unlocking the door of our rooms and the man on reception was unwilling to help. The breakfast was expensive and the coffee machine overflowed . The bathroom floor was stained
