Basic and clean but lacks service

TripAdvisor rating 3.0/5

Len A Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

The apartment is basic but very clean. More than adequate for one night stay. Some services are lacking however. The major one is that there is one washing machine for the whole hotel: and it is as slow as a snail. I waited one hour and it still had another hour to finish. That is ok. The only problem was that when I asked staff if they could tell me where I could do the washing outside they looked at me as if I asked a problem I should have asked Einstein to solve. Such knowledge us essential for travellers.

Homey is homely, but has best prices.

xamhayana Couples - TripAdvisor review

Budget accommodation is scarce in downtown Chongqing, and we were turned down by several Lonely Planet-recommended hotels ('Sorry, we cannot accept foreigners'). If not for Homey, we'd be homeless. This slightly shabby budget hotel on the 9th and 10th floors of an office high-rise saved the day. The staff didn't speak English, but they didn't look at our passports either. At 168 yuan a night this was a steal – and just steps away from the snack street, Jiafangbei, subway, etc. The price even included Chinese-style breakfast (no coffee, vapid congee, rice buns and fruit drink). The only disappointment was living in adjacent rooms with the only two other visiting groups who were boisterous. The hotel is big, so I guess it's done for the staff's convenience.
