2 Different experiences in a 1 Night stay.

I chose hotel as an overnight stop for my son and I on a family trip based on previous stays at various Ibis and Accor hotels, and on price. I often stay in hotels for work and am an Accor All member. On arrival, I felt like the staff were completely disinterested in us. Despite making eye contact with me, one member of staff continued to re-arrange glassware and ignored us. A simple acknowledgement or a "Someone will be with you in a second" would have been nice. Eventually, someone came over and went through the entire check-in process in a very perfunctory manner. On arrival to the room, there were not enough towels provided, which necessitated another trip to reception from the 6th floor. Someone then came with towels, again very perfunctorily. The room itself was okay, but not in any way cosy - I wouldn't want to spend more than one night in it. Due to the strange way the WiFi log-in is presented, the log-in page advised me to go to reception to get a code if I wanted to do anything other than surf, check email, etc. It is common in many hotels to have 2 levels of WiFi (Premier Inn has a chargeable level if you want to stream, etc.), so I went down to reception again, only to be told that that wasn't the case. this could be better explained. Again, the member of staff seemed completely disinterested. After we had been out for dinner, my son wanted to play pool, so we went to buy drinks. Again, the same member of staff completely ignored us as she discussed her future career prospects with other guests while her colleague made frozen drinks for the people she was talking to. When her colleague eventually served us, it was again in a perfunctory manner and with not so much as a hint of customer service. Next morning was a completely different story, and, TBH, up until that point, I couldn't wait to leave. however, the staff couldn't have been more attentive, friendly, and obviously happy to be there. They put a smile on our faces and really set us up for the day. The breakfast was well laid out and stocked and the place had an atmosphere to it. You need to get the morning team to show the evening team how it should be done. Would I stay here again? It wouldn't be my first choice, but I would be willing to give it another go, based on the morning experience.

Good location. Staff could do with some allergen education.

Overall my staff was good. The hotel was nice and clean and in a central but quieter part of Glasgow. The restaurant/bar area was really nice and in general the staff were very helpful. I did have an issue with my breakfast on the first day. I am a coeliac and so cannot risk any contamination with gluten. I had called the hotel prior to making the booking to check this could be accomodated and then noted the need for gluten free food with my booking. When checking in I again asked about it and was told to speak to member of staff in the morning but assured they would accomodate it. I was there for 2 nights/2 breakfasts. On the first morning, the first member of staff I asked about what was gluten free responded 'yeh its just a buffet' so I went to look for another member of staff to help in the buffet area. Looking at the buffet layout, everything that could have been gluten free was in the same container as something that would cross contaminate it with gluten. I spoke to another three members of staff none of whom seemed to understand cross contamination. The first two went to get a more senior person and the last person just brought me an allergen list despite me trying to disvuss the contamination risk. Eventually they agreed to make me up a plate in the kitchen when they started to understand the cross contamination issue. I spoke with the manager that morning about this issue. I spoek with this same manager the second morning who was great and got a gluten free sorted for me straight away. Overall my stay was ok but this issue did put a massive downer on it. It is very concerning that people working in the restaurant area (excluding the maanger) do not seem to have any understanding about cross contamination with allergens which could have reallt serious health consequences for someone like me.

We stayed here for a short break to Glasgow with friends. The hotel is located centrally, has a warm and welcoming feel and the rooms are great with everything you need. The staff team were all very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Great selection for breakfasts, snacks and bar. Would definitely return to this hotel again.
