We remained in the hotel after a long day of sightseeing and wanted to eat in a quiet atmosphere together. I was surprised to eat the best meal of our 4 day trip to Istanbul in our hotel. Chef Sena cooks excellent! And our waiter Ali is a warm person who provides great service and makes you feel at home. Thank you for giving us a great experience on our last evening in Istanbul!

Good service

The hotel is wonderfully appointed, in a great and central location, and the service provided by the staff was impeccable. We had breakfast in the restaurant daily and very much enjoyed that as well. I would stay here again.

The room was lovely and very clean. The location is very good. My reason for a rating of 6 and not a 9 or 10, is that things were not explained well with respect to the breakfast. We didn't realize it was a pay-one-price, we weren't given any menu to order from, we were just asked what we wanted. They brought out a huge tray with all the "traditional" turkish breakfast items and they kept pushing us to just take it all (it was WAY too much food and I'm sure most of it was wasted). When we asked how much each item was, the staff looked at us and said "Don't you want to try this??" All we wanted was something small, like an egg & piece of toast or the french toast we saw on the room service menu. They kept pushing us to try the traditional breakfast, so we took a few of the items to "appease" them because it got to the point that we could no longer say no thank you. The room service menu on the TV was reasonably priced, yet there was no menu or pricing anywhere to be seen once you stepped foot in the restaurant. The frustrating part is that no one explained this to us beforehand and when we kept asking for prices and a menu, no one told us anything except to say "Just tell us what you want". We ended up ordering scrambled eggs and toast, tea and orange juice (along with a couple of items from the traditional breakfast tray - olives and cheese). This ended up costing us the equivalent of about $80 (Canadian Dollars). A complete rip-off. We could have walked two minutes to the coffee shop across the street and had a delicious pastry and coffee for under $10CAD. Also, the person taking down our room number at the restaurant came to our table four separate times to verify he had the correct number, like he didn't trust we were giving him the correct room number. It was all very strange and odd and we've travelled extensively throughout the world. I don't know if this was just a difference of cultures but it did come across as somewhat rude, no pleasant smile or apology for having to check again and again and again.

On checking in we were told we had a room with a view of the golden horn - this was out one window. We could glimpse it through the very top of the window. The drains smelt and the doors to the bathroom were noisy to close and open, making privacy while toileting, very hard. The room itself was ok, but the duvet cover was torn and the duvet itself was too small for the bed and only just covered the top of the bed. The towels and bed linen were all a creamy grey washed out white and had seen better days. One of the windows was missing a handle, making it impossible to open. The welcome drink was lovely and we thought we would follow it up with dinner in the dining room. There was no one there when we arrived and when someone arrived to show us to a table we were just told to choose one and then were brought a QR code to look at the menu. The QR code brought up the room service menu which had us confused and when we pointed this out, we weee asked to wait for a minute. After a few minutes an older waiter arrived and with lots of rummaging around he found some paper menus and brought them over. These were also headed as room service menus. We were still very confused and wondered if we were ordering something to come to our room, but we ordered and then a chef appeared in the kitchen. After ten minutes our food arrived, which was tasty, but obviously frozen. While we ate there were six or so males wandering around the dining room, two looked like painters (the function room appeared to be being renovated) and others looked like staff, definitely not guests. It was very strange. After we finished our meal, we went straight back to our room. We ordered breakfast boxes to go the following morning and they were ready on time and food inside was good, although we were promised an apple and this did not get included. We ordered room service breakfast the next day and the omelette was good and croissant basket full with croissants and fruit danish , but no butter or preserves for the croissants. The staff were trying, but everything was very awkward, maybe because it’s only very early in the tourist season. Hopefully when they get busier things will improve
