The layout of the room made it difficult to move around the room. But we did not spend much time there so it was not a big issue. We loved the furniture decorations with all of the bold velvet seating.

Wonderful stay, perfect location

Perfect location! Easily accessible to the old part of town and the cathedral, as well as the more 'city' part north (in direction of the train station). The room (suite) was perfect for a family - the separate toilet room is a huge plus. The front desk was courteous and efficient. The turndown service was delightful. Did not get the breakfast so cannot say but there are so many delicious patissierie/boulangeries very close by. Strasbourg was simply lovely - and for now, seems somewhat under the radar for international tourists. A really enjoyable stop on our France trip.

Good stay close to the city center

We were very pleased with the very friendly staff, the services that were offered, breakfast, the location and the look & feel of the ground floor. However the room and the upper floors were not what you would expect in a 5 star hotel. The rooms were a bit outdated and showed too much little damages (the doors!!!) The same can be said about the corridors. Also in both we found dust (on lamps, behind tv…).

Great location

The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive to guests. Special thanks to the concierge staff, reception staff and valets. We had one dinner at the restaurant and all of our breakfasts there (we stayed 4 nights). Dinner was delicious, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere very inviting. However, the breakfast staff did not tell us that additional items could be ordered from the menu and were included in the breakfast buffet. We only learned this on our last day. They serve scrambled eggs on the buffet, but omelettes, poached eggs, etc are available and made to order. As are waffles and pancakes. 😞 We went to the bar once, it was a great experience. Our room was adequate; it was located above the outside terrace bar where smoking is permitted. Sometimes the smoke smell would find its way into our room, (perhaps through the ventilation system?) and being non-smokers, we were disappointed. Next time we will specify a room away from the terrace. Housekeeping does not refresh the coffee station area regularly but our room was always tidied and cleaned daily. Towels were refreshed as requested. Our minibar fridge was broken on our arrival; it was fixed promptly. A request for non-feather pillows was fulfilled promptly as well. Overall, a good experience and we are likely to consider staying here again on our next trip to Strasbourg.

Very dated building - not 5 *

This Sofitel was a big disappointment, if I had known the state it was in, I never would have booked. The bathroom smelled of urine, the doors in the rooms were so old, the bottom was completely chipped with no paint on it. Breakfast was okay but nothing special (again for a 5*). After staying at the Scribe in Paris (also 5*) this was a real joke. We will never stay there again and will look at alternative and cheaper options.
