Trouville Sur Mer

Located on the Côte Fleurie in northern France, Trouville-sur-Mer (often shortened to Trouville), is the oldest seaside resort in Normandy. Originally a humble fishing village, it became known as a bohemian enclave after being discovered by painter Charles Mozin in the early 19th century. The picturesque Trouville beach and seafront have inspired many artists and novelists – including Claude Monet, who immortalised scenes from the promenade in his painting ‘Hôtel des Roches Noires, Trouville’, and Raymond Savignac, the French graphic artist whose joyful posters have since become synonymous with the town where he spent his final years.
