The best hotel we found in our entire UK trip , travelled in march ( off season ) with family . Decent sized rooms , 5* for cleanliness and service.. The staff at the reception was extremely helpful and courteous , would like to thank Ms Sonia and Mr Apoorva for all the help The location is very near to the castle and also has a paid parking just a few blocks aways...the hotel has an unloading area so you can unload your luggage easily if travelling by car The rooms are quite spacious with sofa beds in majority of rooms

Good clean hotel very friendly and helpful staff gym for guest only had Breton the hotel but the breakfast was excellent hot breakfast buffet was refreshed constantly the hotel has easy access to the bars clubs and restaurants and shopping

Stayed for 3 nights and would definitely stay again. Nice big hotel with a modern reception and smiley staff. Dining area looked lovely although we did not use it. Our room was fresh and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We were pleased to have a mini fridge, an iron + ironing board and a hairdryer. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was roomy. The fee toiletries were lovely and smelt beautiful. The gym had a great cross trainer! The only negative was that we were LG1 which meant our view out of the window was essentially a wall, would kindly ask for a room above ground floor next time.

I thoroughly enjoyed my three nights at the mercure. I was travelling up for business and I felt so looked after during my entire stay. My room was upgraded to a privilege room which included a free mini bar of soft drinks, water, robes & slippers, a nespresso machine and a free newspaper each morning. The room was big and spacious, the cleanliness was of excellent standard, the gym onsite was great and reception were super helpful when I realised there was no remote in my room and the room didn’t seem to get warmer when turning up the temperature, they instantly assisted in bringing a heater to my room and a new tv remote. Everything was perfect and I will always choose this hotel for when I’m working in the city. I also felt so safe as a single female travelling alone. Thank you so much everyone!! You were fantastic.

Second stay here and really can’t fault the place. Arrived hours early and asked for leave my bag in storage instead they allowed me to check into a room early which was lovely having spent 3 hours on a train and heading to work it gave me time to just sit and gather myself together before heading in to the office. This really made my day! Beds comfortable and great location for the city centre lots around to walk to. Didn’t have breakfast this time but a great stay
