Wheelchair accessible Queen room

We stayed in a lovely, queen wheelchair accessible room for two nights. The location was very convenient - just a 5 min walk/wheel to the esplanade and restaurant precinct. A bonus was the onsite locked carpark (2.1m height clearance), with 2 wheelchair bays near the lifts, and the complimentary internet and movies. The room was spacious with ample room next to the right hand side of the bed to park a wheelchair, and 4 power points next to the bed, which was approx. 24" high. The mattress was very firm. The bathroom was large with wheel-in shower (no grab rails), fold down seat, wheel-under sink, and grabrails next to the right hand transfer wheelchair height toilet. The view from our room was lovely but unfortunately the balcony was not wheelchair accessible due to the threshold lip on the sliding door.

Decent hotel for a one-night stopover, but not for much longer than that

This hotel is possibly one of the nicer ones in the Port Macquarie area, but that's saying something as it's equivalent to a standard Courtyard Marriot-style hotel. That was fine for me as I was simply staying overnight on a road trip, but I'm not sure it would be worth staying in as a destination hotel for more than 2-3 nights. Pros: - Room was fairly clean (though dated with decent wear and tear) - Had access to a small balcony - Good selection of in-room tea making/coffee making options - Good aircon systems - Good bathroom toiletries - Hotel dog! Cons: - Balcony looked out over the parking garage next door and the ventilation stack from the underground parking garage was right outside -- means I couldn't open the door lest the vehicle exhaust fumes exiting the ventilation stack enter my unit. - The ventilation stack was also right over the pool - The pool is nice, but it's not truly heated (even though it claims to be). My apartment has a pool of this type and it has tiles that are meant to heat up in the sun. But this means it needs consistent, direct sunlight to stay warm, and this pool is almost constantly in the shade because it's surrounded by the walls of the parking garage structure. So it was quite cold. - Hard to get pool towels from reception (kept trying and reception was always busy). They should just make towels accessible at the pool itself. - No onsite gym.

Ordinary at best. Shower recess had mould in the grout. Diner - Salmon special, with no vegeis, etc, had to buy an additional side dish, a great way to increase revenue for the restaurant. Breakfast, the staff again only interested in making money and not aware of complimentary breakfast listing on room sheet.

If this is how you treat gold level Accor Plus ...

We were booked in for two nights but were so disappointed with our room we left after one night, even though the accommodation was non refundable. As there were no Accessible rooms available we had asked for a room with a walk-in shower and took our own toilet & shower chair. My husband is mobility impaired. We are Gold Level Accor Plus members. I can only say, that if the room we were given is how they look after their members, too bad for the general public. Be warned : do not accept a room on the ground floor. We were 103. We arrived to find our room as hot as an oven as the afternoon sun poured in. Instead of a lovely balcony we had a hot dusty patio with a brick wall. We have stayed there for the past 5 years on higher floors with a lovely balcony and the option to leave the doors open at night rather than have the air con on. The pool deck looked down into our room. Proximity to the pool was no bonus to us ... it is totally inaccessible to the disabled. Our room had blackout blinds only, no sheer curtains. Outside our brick wall was a bar (?) area - not used at the time we were there - but the shadecloth was lit at night by flashing fairy lights, perfect migraine inducing. The bathroom was tiny - you couldn't open the shower door fully without turning down the showerhead! This made it very difficult (and dangerous) for my husband to maneuver on crutches. And something new we encountered for the first time for Accor Plus members to note : the Accor dining discount is only available in the restaurant for in-house guests

A musty smell greeted us as we entered the room and we found mould on the blackout curtains. Apart from that, it was everything that we needed. Dark,and surprisingly quiet (until the delivery lorries reversed into the culdesac at 5am). It was close to a supermarket, some shops/restaurants and the coastal walk. Port Macquarie was lovely. We wished that we had stayed a second night.
