We were visiting Jena for a sporting event and also wanted to travel to Leipzig so this hotel was ideal. For once Accors description was accurate, the venue is indeed in central Jena but was not at all noisy. Staff were very helpful and check-in was easy. We had not bought breakfast with our package and paid for it one morning, €17 was a bit expensive and in fact used other outlets for the rest of our stay. The room was typical Ibis fair, in fact one of the great advantages of using the brand as opposed to Styles label you know what you are getting.

I have around 80 to 100 hotel nights each year, worldwide. The IBIS Jena City Hotel met my requirements, it was clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was basic compared to higher priced hotels but there was enough choice of fresh food. This was the first hotel I can remember where I did not have to spend the first few minutes unplugging appliances or covering things up to make the room dark at night; even the TV had no standby light! Why do some hotels have a brightly lit alarm clock display by the bed, I just pull the plug, I have a mobile. Wi-Fi was also good and free. I don't need more in a hotel than this and the lack of annoying lights in the room was positively refreshing.

The location is perfect in the middle of the center. Restaurants all around. There is a parking-garage below the hotel. The rooms are as you can expect in an Ibis-hotel. The personnel is friendly. There was no special attention for being a platinum-member, besides getting the welcome-drink.

We must have stayed in dozens of Ibis hotels by now, and this one of the more dated ones, similar to the Ibis hotels of 10/15 years ago. Beds are comfortable, but there are no plug sockets within arm range. The toilet/shower area is clean, but seriously small. There were some suspicious looking stains and dust on the carpet. Because of Corona measures, our room wasn't cleaned during our stay, but only before the arrival of new guests. (which I think is debatable whether this is really preventing the housekeeping staff from catching the virus). Location of this hotel however, is excellent: only 5 minutes by foot from the train station Jena Paradies . This turned out to be a fantastic starting point from where to explore the nearby hiking area Mittlere Saaldal and even Leipzig is within range for a day trip.
