Camp stretcher in South Bank and bad customer service.

When we arrived in our room we noticed mould in the bathroom and showers. Unfortunately it didn’t end there. I then noticed while laying on my twin share queen bed, lots of ants crawling around. They were also running up the wall and window. When we contacted front of house they had no decent solutions or compensation. Only trying to offer me a free drink and a single bed camp stretcher in another room. This is disgusting service and the fact of offering no financial compensation or another room that we booked they could only offer a camp stretcher bed. This is not the type of thing you would expect at a 4.5 hotel, I would be treated better at a backpackers. I do not recommend this place at all. Find a 3 star with good reviews.

Poor service, mediocre room and challenging Gym

Terrible service, at check in the hotel insisted a billing me fully in advance. I was told that as I had booked via a booking engine my silver status had no value. The corridor walls to room were bashed. There were also no hangers in room no glasses. It took 35 minutes to get out coffee at breakfast - we cancelled the next 3 days of breakfast (the hotel did issue a refund) The gym's condition was more than disappointing, 3 out of the 4 bikes had parts missing or were broken. The steps of the elliptical trainer were filthy my shoes stuck to the steps. Told reception they did nothing. Day 2 the dirty towels were left on the floor and the dirty glasses still in room. It took 30 min to get towels, we were told they were very busy. Day 3 the dirty glasses from the past few days were still in the room. Not worth the cost.

Amazing stay, wonderful staff. Would stay again but not on the lower corner room which was very loud

The three of us stayed at Novotel for 3 nights for a mix of work and fun. We chose the location because it was close to the work thing – but it turns out it was a great location which was right behind the convention centre, 10 minutes walk to the arts precinct and 5 minutes out to the river. We were also close to some good cafes, pizza, and other restaurants. It was all we ever needed. The only time we ventured out of South Bank and to the CBD was for some more ethnic cuisines. The hotel seems really new and everything is super clean. We stayed in the Junior Suite that has a separate bedroom. Everything was well maintained, pretty high quality, including the rollaway bed. There's a Nespresso and good selection of tea. I didn't care for the overly perfumed body wash / etc – really should have BYOed. There's also a lovely outdoor pool with deck chairs and towels (which we used) and a gym too. There's a huge restaurant, but we didn't go there – although we did do breakfast a la carte to the room. The front desk is always being taken care of by two people, it seems – always a friendly face to help! Reception was always considerate and quick the couple of times I called, and the couple of times I had extra requests – thank you, team! They also helped post out something we left in the room – amazing. The bad stuff? Just one major and one minor thing. The minor thing was that breakfast is only buffet. You can do room service breakfast a la carte, but you need to put in your order the night before – a little too much forward thinking when on holiday haha! The major thing was that we were in the corner room on level 2 of the north west corner (I think) and it was very loud. The aircon duct / switch room outside hums constantly. We were lucky to be very tired the entire time, but the noise might catch some people out. Management –– I might consider double glazing those lower rooms in that corner.
