A tropical swamp in the middle of Cologne

We stayed in the hotel for six nights, as a couple on a romantic break. Even if that isn't the demographic focus of the Pullman, I can't imagine it being a lot better for anybody else. The room itself was spacious enough, albeit with a lack of any drawers for storage and average soundproofing. The bathroom was where we had the real problems. Peeling wallpaper, stains above the shower-head, loose shower flagstones with water trapped beneath, leaking tap (and not from where you'd think)... The biggest problem, though, was the heating. There appeared to be underfloor heating that raged out of control throughout our stay, and reception said they couldn't change it. This was not what we needed when we arrived in 25ºC heat. What's more, the bathroom door didn't close properly (being more a folding screen sort of deal), so we couldn't keep the heat in. We were too warm every night, even when the temperature outside dropped. Coupled with a foul smell that came and went, it's fair to say that the bathroom wasn't liveable at all. We signed up for half-board, meaning we aimed to dine at the hotel's restaurant (Brasserie E.L.F.) almost every night. We abandoned this plan: the menu was restrictive in some areas (e.g. one dessert choice), and outside the seasonal menu what we had felt like decent but overpriced pub food. The menu did mysteriously double in size halfway through our stay, but by then we'd made other plans. Breakfast was much better, with a broad spread of options - we particularly liked the waffles. The hotel makes a big deal of its rooftop bar. It's fine. To its credit the Pullman is very well-placed, with almost everything you could want to do in Cologne (and the main station) in walking distance. The staff were very helpful whenever we needed them, and the cleaning staff come at almost any time of the day when signed for. Maybe we just had an unfortunate experience here. Or maybe the other reviews using the word 'tired' were being kind. Or maybe business travellers have a better time. As it is, I'm very wary about trying a Pullman hotel again, in any capacity.

Great location in the center of Cologne with a trendy bar. Room service was great we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast option! Only qualm was that the rooms felt and looked somewhat outdated but it doesn't change from the 5 star service. Definitely recommend

Visited this property April 11th thru April 14th 2024. Right at this time of the year, the weather gets warmer and the hotel does not have the A/C working. They gave me an odd excuse saying that the city of Cologne needed to give them permission to turn on the chiller. We had to sleep with the windows open on a noisy street and exposed to sunlight early in the morning.

Fantastic hotel in Cologne. The rooms are massive, with very comfortable beds and pillows, and our room had a view of the Cathedral. Easy to get to by transit and easy to walk to the Central station. The mini bar was stocked with beer, water, sparkling wine and juice. The breakfast was plentiful and had lots of options to choose from. While this is more of a business hotel and not as charming as others closer to the Cathedral, we enjoyed the space of the large room after staying in smaller rooms during our trip.

I travelled to Cologne with my son and father for the Christmas markets. The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel was clean and centrally located enabling us to walk into the markets. The parking at the hotel was also easy to use and made it very easy to get to. This was my 2nd visit to this hotel in the past couple of years and I will definitely use it again next time I’m in town.
