We’ve visited Cologne twice and stayed here both times. The big things it has going for it are proximity to the Cathedral and the central station. Both are a 3 minute walk. Some of their rooms (front facing) have very nice Cathedral views, and we were fortunate to have that spectacular view on our first visit, but sadly not this time. The room we had this time was relatively small, but not tiny. It had a small wardrobe, safety deposit box, small fridge, kettle, hospitality tray and 2 small bottles of water daily. The bed was clean and very comfortable and our room was quiet. The shower was easy to control and had good water pressure. TV was a large, flat screen wall mounted model, but English language channels were limited to the Comedy Channel and Sky News International. Check on and out was fairly quick and efficient. Rooms were cleaned and serviced daily. We didn’t eat in the hotel at all as we prefer to eat when we’re out and about, and a German Bakery breakfast is hard to beat. Internet speed was pretty good, but connection dropped constantly, so it was a bit of a pain having to reconnect to the WiFi numerous times per day. Overall though, we’d certainly stay again.

Perfect location, with access to trains, central city, and amenities. Breakfast included was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Options for cleaning and towel changeout available if sustainability on your list.

Myself and my friend had a lovely stay at Hotel Mondial. The location is superb and the staff are all very attentive and friendly. When we first arrived we asked why we were staying and after advising we were there for the Christmas Markets we provided us with a map and circled the locations of all the markets and gave us hints and tips, which we were very grateful! Lovely bit of customer service! We decided not to have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that aspect. We booked the standard room which we found to be on the small side. There wasn't much storage space which was a little disappointing. One small wardrobe which held the safe and fridge, a few shelves which you could put your things in but couldn't really use due to the height of the wardrobe. It was also quite hot in there, espeically at night. We did try turning on the air-con but that didn't seem to make a difference. In the end we opened the window. But in honesty, because we were out for most of the day it didn't really matter too much. The bathroom was a great size for 2 people and the shower was really good, with great shower gel/hand soap etc. As I said previously, the location was great. It was the main reason we decided to book. It would take a 2 minute walk to one of the Christmas Markets and a 4-5 minute walk to the Cathedral! Really couldn't have been more central if we tried! The hotel had a wine bar attached to it, which was really nice. They had a fridge stocked with wines, beer, soft drinks, snacks etc which was really handy if we didn't want to sit in but take something back up to the room with us in the evening. Again the member of staff who worked there was very friendly. We didn't have a chance to use the spa facilities as we ran out of time. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely book again based on our experience.

Lovely hotel with a large lobby and a bar with views of the Cathedral. Our room was very modern and clean with views of the cathedral’s spirals. The customer was very good. The location was a few minutes walk to the train station and to the shopping mall. Only downfall was that our mini fridge was not working.

Perfect location to visit the Christmas Markets

Our first visit to Cologne for the Christmas Markets. This hotel is in a perfect location , 5 mins walk to two of the markets and the Cathedral. Also walking distance to pick up the Tourist train to visit other markets (there are 7 in all). All staff without exception were extremely polite and helpful. The room was a reasonable size and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was a good selection including hot food. A lovely touch was on the last day there were chocolate Santas on each of the tables. Plenty of restaurants nearby for evening meals. They even laid on snow for us (not really but it was magical!).
