Sofitel was a splendid base for my short trip. The ease of transporting from O'Hare to the hotel via blue line and the CTA bus allowed me to take advantage of the restful room and the credit through Amex Fine Hotels program encouraged me to dine at Le Bar, where there were ample vegan options and friendly staff and elegant décor. The hotel desk was very welcoming and provided me hardcopy menus of all hotel restaurants and recommendations for local eateries that would accommodate vegan meals. The CTA bus enabled easy delivery to Union Station for my early Amtrak ride to Carbondale to see the eclipse, enabling me to relax and take in the sights and avoid the dangerous traffic that accompanied the rare event. There is a grocery store on the same block that allowed me to stock up meals for my day of travel on the Amtrak, and I felt safe in the neighborhood. The bath and shower were relaxing and refreshing after a long travel day, the blackout curtains were effective, and the desk in the room allowed me to pleasantly write some letters to loved ones. My trip back to O'Hare via transit was predictable, safe, and economical. I would stay again.

Great hotel, linens and towel. Need to ensure you have enough soap and lotion due to the bulk packaging. Also don’t look for a nice cup of coffee in room. Only espressos.

Thank you for the French touch. The Bonjour in French is always appreciated. The room was spacious. The coffee machine was not very easy to use. And the breakfast was good but a bit expansive compared to what is being offered to eat.

Check in/out was very easy and went well. The room was a little small, but not a problem. Enjoyed Le Bar but did not have the opportunity to eat at the restaurant. There was a minor issue with the shower making a noise when the handle was in a certain position, but did not affect the output or temperature, just a little annoying. Did as for an extra luggage rack, but did not get. However, due to the amount of closet space this did not create an issue. Room/Floor was quiet (15th floor, away from the elevator). Definitely would/will stay here again.
