Canberra at its best - the perfect stay/s in the civic

Canberra is at its best when you find accommodation that not only is located in the civic, close to galleries, museums, historic sites and key attractions, but also surrounded by nature (lake, hills and tree-lined streets) plus ones’ office. The perfectly equipped and clean rooms, of which those on the higher levels have great views, await the treats that one can but in the fabulous cafes in close proximity.. When you find this special site, you most likely would be at The Sebel Hotel! The Sebel has welcomed me back on several occasions for 4-5 day stays and each time I leave I am sad to say Goodbye and know I shall return.

Look at other options if you are travelling by car

No parking on site is an issue. Yes, there are parking options nearby but you need to do your research about how secure these options are. Reception suggested parking at the nearby public shopping centre car park which is hardly a safe and secure option. If you are travelling by car, particularly if you have kids, there are better options. The rooms are clean and practical, if you are looking to stay in, make sure you have all you need for meals etc because there are no in house options.

Parking is a nightmare

The Sebel Canberra Civic has no bar, no restaurant and worst of all, no parking - not even a drop off bay. Heaven help you if you have a lot of luggage and it's pouring with rain. There are half a dozen 2 hour bays in laneway round the back - good luck with that! A larger square 200 metres away with half hour spots - useless! Apart from that there are a few private car parks that cost a fortune or a large open air public car park 500 metres away where you can park for four hours and risk your car being vandalised at $2.00 an hour. It is free from 10.30pm to 8.30am. On a positive note the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. If you don't drive there, don't want to eat or drink there the Sebel Canberra Civic will suit you well.

Air conditioning didn’t work. Humid and stuffy when sleeping. Was told to close the bathroom door for 5 minutes due to a sensor in the bathroom but after two hours there was no improvement. Stay elsewhere!

Cleanliness should be improved

We booked two rooms here for two nights, our towels were crumpled up and the bathroom clearly had not been wiped down after the first night. Good sized rooms and location, but the bad cleaning service really put me off. The last thing you want on holiday is to worry about germs and dirty linens
