The Banyan Tree group have a long standing reputation of excellence and high standards throughout Asia, which is the main reason why I wanted to try this one as it was ranked one of the very best in Shanghai. The location is excellent, right on the Bund and very peaceful and serene and the hotel beautifully presented, and the front desk staff excellent - although I was surprised to Fi over that only two or three staff could speak confidently in English. This was surprising for a group such as the Banyan Tree, with the pedigree and reputation they have worldwide. This did make communication somewhat challenging for me, although luckily, Alisa at front desk was an outstanding member of staff who helped me throughout. The Bund Retreat rooms really are special, beautifully appointed, spacious, outstanding views and a wonderful circular bath by the window. Unfortunately, my room on the first night had a problem with the air-conditioning, and the heating was super hot, which meant I could not sleep, clearly not ideal for my hotel of the standing. Alisa did not hesitate to move me the next day so my second night sleep was better! Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and it felt very luxurious, I hope they sort out the air-conditioning and all rooms moving forward.

호텔이 너무 깨끗하고 고급집니다!! 위치가 아주 죄금 애매하긴 합니다만 그런거 다 상관없이 친절한 서비스에 너무 감동했어요 다음에 꼬 오겠습니다 객실 상태도 좋고 욕실에서 보는 뷰는 정말 꺄악! 객실 업그레이드 감사해요 Good choice to stay Banayan tree We will definitely comeback again to stay here! Thx for the upgrade and friendly service from front office people! I will be back 🥰🥰

We booked the “Bund Oasis with Romantic Pool” room and the room was decent. When we woke up on the morning of 1/2/24, the lights could not be switched on and the fancy toilet that required power could not be flushed. Upon contacting the front desk we were then told that there is a power outage… The staff did not offer us another room until we asked how we were supposed to shower. As the room curtain also required power there was no natural light and we had to rely on phone torchlight to pack up our luggages in the dark. We did not expect to have such an awful experience at a 5 star hotel and it was definitely an experience that we will never forget.

We went for the rooftop bar and we lucked out on a Monday, it was mostly left for ourselves. The cocktails were ok and the price was acceptable. Great, fantastic views of the Bund. Good , attentive service. We did not stay in the hotel nor ate there.
