Hidden charges the hotel it’s self was nice good staff and very helpful the room I stayed in was nice clean & tidy but there our hidden charges & I think that’s not fair my work we’re paying so didn’t matter to me but the young couple who I over heard questioning there bill & room rate were very upset so I looked deeper and yes there definitely is hidden charges

if i was giving a review about the staff it would be five star, they were lovely. the rooms were clean and though extremely small ok for a one night stay. i did have to ask for a kettle and tea making materials when as far as i am concerned it is a 'given' in all other hotels i have stayed in. that is the real reason for the three stars, this is a motel basically, it is not a holiday hotel for more than a couple of nights, therefore you would expect to turn up in a car and that car to have parking - yes it does but it is another £7 per night for the car to stay at the hotel. across the road a premier inn with free parking - you need to read the small print as that £7 is there but as any other standard hotel i have stayed at includes it you might easily miss it. making the price for a night's stay not such a bargain. the breakfast was modestly boring, edible but unimaginative. before booking add the cost of parking in and you might find others are cheaper.

Well came to this hotel yesterday since my sister had a ice skating competition this morning and honestly the worst hotel I have ever been to, they say on this website that there is high speed WiFi but in fact it is quite small, and rooms look like a hospital room or worse with a shower and no where to put clean clothes to change into, no proper bathroom’s only a shower, a toilet that is so close to the room door and sink in the same room as sleeping, also a small desk with a big seat and hard to find especially if you don’t live or you are not a local in Sheffield then you will easily miss this hotel as the building is behind a big building and you can barely see it until you drive past the building blocking that hotel, beds are terrible too and way too much noise throughout the night when trying to sleep because it is right next to a roundabout. Would recommend staying at another cheaper hotel or just any hotel with more space, although the room had a space underneath the sink counter, it barely had much room to put other things and if you had luggage, then it would be worse since there is no wardrobe to put a luggage but when we went, we only bought bags since it was for 1 night and even that, we had to just put bags near the bed.

I have stayed at many good Ibis hotels, including the budget versions, and am OK with basic rooms. I did not enjoy this place at all. Only when I arrived did I discover that they charge for parking. When I said it didn't mention that during booking I was rudely laughed at and told it did say it on the website. I later checked and it doesn't, unless you specifically click a link to the parking. It is in any case unjustifiable to charge for parking, the place is in the middle of nowhere. It's meant to be a budget hotel, if you pay for parking it's not even that cheap. I found a parking place elsewhere. The room was as basic as expected, with no carpet. The window looked out onto a wall and a rat trap. It was cold. The heating was turned off and I realised I had to switch on a fan heater to warm it up. It took a while to heat up but once up to temperature was fine, if a bit noisy. Although big enough and reasonably clean It felt a bit like a cell, and the decor was a bit tired. There was no kettle or coffee, just a couple of paper cups on the sink. The entrance foyer had lots of mats on the floor, but despite me drying my feet on them, the tiled sections were extremely slippy when I wore my shoes, and I had to be ultra cautious. It seemed OK with trainers on. They had a note up about it, but really it needs new flooring because it's very hazardous. Leaving the hotel the options for eating and drinking were extremely limited. I couldn't find a pub that was open and the nearest restaurant was a Pizza Hut that was quite a walk away towards Meadowhall. I tried walking the opposite way and was similarly disappointed. Proximity to Sheffield Forgemasters meant that late into the night I could hear the thump of a gigantic forging press operating every 3 seconds. As an engineer, I quite liked that, but others may not. If you had to stay here for an event, Premier Inn directly opposite would be much better value.

We also have a sign in front of the barrier and the reception as well regarding the car park charges. Regarding the kettle in the rooms: We do not provide this service in the rooms. This is the standard for all Ibis budget hotels in UK. Regarding the floor being slippy? I am sorry about that. It was a lot of rains and we put the yellow signs on the floor and on the reception main door as well . Regarding the restaurants: There are a lot of restaurants and bars on the left side of the hotel. It will take 7 minutes to walk there. Booked again because it is the only dog friendly in the area, very convenient in front of the arena and ice rink. It is very basic so expectations are low…but this time it was below their standard. This hotel plus has always been the friendly staff, but at check in they had a grumpy and unwelcoming middle aged new guy that set the stay and the problems started: the toilet in the room was not flushing, they fixed it in the morning, but make you wonder how housekeeping missed it; the bunk bed had a very dangerous unprotected metal angle exposed that hurt; the key cards lost magnet every few hours; breakfast was the poorest ever; no room phones, so to call front desk need to use your mobile and often go through call center and in the ends nobody answers; the room was not cleaned properly, pieces of mud were left on the floor; the rooms air temperature control is not adjustable and at night it was very hot; the window blind was broken for our three days stay; they are obsessed to be paid for any extra right away, so if you have your card in the room they will refuse you one little bag of crisp; they have poor quality coffee for 1.95 pounds; the parking bar monitor does not work, so you need to get out of the car in the rain and call front desk to open and this was for at least six months. The positive was the regular front desk guy during the day that tried to make up for all problems, always very kind and working solo fixing everything.

Regarding the reception: I am sorry if you felt about our night shift being rude to you. He was doing his duty regarding to charge an item. They can not purchase an order with out a payment. We do not have a system which you could pay later. Other Accor hotels such as Ibis red and have that facility to charge later on. Regarding the room not being clean and had some maintenance issues: I am sorry about that. I will take this matter to the Head departments but we could ve change your room if you could ve let us know in the reception .
