We stayed at the Olsen April 12 – 14. We have stayed with you at this hotel several times. I will never stay at The Olsen again and I’ll be very guarded about staying with Accor or Mantra. Room 101 was like being in a dungeon Breakfast menu very limited if you don’t eat eggs and meat. Breakfast service hopeless. I was served luke warm tea. The toast was thin, days old, very ordinary bread – that you charged $10 for – complete rip off. Really, is it so hard to get a piece of toast right ? I was told by the waitress that you served apricot jam – bur it came with marmalade. I asked for the apricot only to be told by another waitress that you don’t have apricot jam. Your cups are too thick and do not hold the heat. I did not go to breakfast on the second day – why bother ? Room service butter chicken was flavourless and the portion was four small pieces of chicken On arrival I found there were two tea bags in the room. I rang and asked for more. I had to make three calls and wait more than an hour. We left our room at 8am on the Saturday morning only to find that the housekeeping was not done when we returned at 3pm. When I complained about this we were told that we had to go to the reception desk to ask for the room to be serviced. Ridiculous. The mugs in the room leaked through the bottom. Very unappealing to drink from and too small There were no vanity kits with cotton buds in the bathroom. The whole stay was like something out of Fawlty Towers – if you don’t know that program google it. Fawlty Towers is a hotel that can’t get anything right and it’s so bad it becomes comical. There were also issues about parking I will never stay with you again.

I had flown in from Brisbane and stayed at the Ovolo there for one night. I flew into Melbourne from Brisbane and I was just underwhelmed with everything from check-in, to the room, the amenities, etc. I didn't know there was an Ovolo in Melbourne until after the check-in. The Olsen should be competitive with their competitors. The Olsen doesn't appear to be any competition for The Ovolo. We do not have these chains in America but unfortunately, The Olsen missed the mark.

1/5 We booked a 1 bedroom deluxe suite. The room we got was a studio layout by definition. The bed setup looked like the average persons bed (I took a photo and video). There were only two pillows on the bed laid flat (not the usual four pillows leaning against each other with a design pillow in front) in addition there was no headboard, just the bed against the wall with the two pillows laying flat. The setup nowhere near resembled the pictures online and are clear breach of advertising laws as they are very misleading to say the least. This mediocre bed layout is definitely not synonymous with the reputation nor rating of 5 stars as the hotel misleadingly advertises. Nobody should be allocated such a room, and this was a real dampener as it was my Wife’s Birthday weekend. Furthermore, being a diamond member with Accor, I don’t know how I was given such a substandard room. Not good enough and breach of trust and law.

Hotel is stylish comfortable and convenient with all the amenities of a five star hotel but more personal. Staff were all fantastic and the restaurant was one of the nicest hotel eating experiences I have had recently. The beautiful heated pool and gymnasium were wonderful.

Staff were very friendly and helpful whenever we need help during our 4 night stay. Room was a bit tired, marks on walls, bathroom sink very chipped, hot plate missing a dial so could not be used. We ended up with a king split for a couple, the rooms advertised mentioned a King or Queen bed not king splits. This was not comfortable with the bed feeling a bit lumpy. Room Service is mentioned as 24/7 however we found it was not and had to order food in on the Sunday night after the grand prix. Good location for attending the grand prix taking the tram down Toorak road to St Kilda road and being right on gate 5 or taking another tram down to gates 7&8. Also if you want to cook a Woolworths a block away is handy. Breakfast was really nice and restaurant service was great and quick. If Valet/self parking is full as it was for us the secure car park at the Como directly across the road is the same overnight pricing and if staying multi nights you can get it with multiple entries and exits a day, just book and pay for it through their app. I would stay again for the Grand Prix, hopefully the rooms will be spruced up by then if we do.
