Great common spaces, everything else is a disappointment

Though I never stayed here before, I always assumed the Fairmont was a really nice hotel. It is not. The rooms are outdated and in decay. There was a giant temporary air conditioning unit outside my door (see photo), complete with an extension cord duct taped across the threshold of my door. The plumbing is in terrible shape, thus giving me inconsistent/low pressure in the shower. The valet car people are severely understaffed. When I first arrived, they wasn't even someone present to take my car. Then, two days in a row I called for my car and they had not yet retrieved it after 15 minutes. Even the staff admits things are not what they once were. Please get your act together. This is no longer the pandemic where you can do less and charge more.

Repeat traveler to the hotel but this was the last time. Stayed for 4 nights. A/C didn’t work well the first night. Complained to front desk next morning. Was lied that A/C for whole building has problems so was given a pedestal fan and it’s eight was lower then the bed itself. Anyway thought the problem is only temporary. But the receptionist was obviously lying to me as the supposedly AC for the whole building issue never got resolved in the remaining 3 nights. What a disaster culture where according to mpeople can lie to prevent guests from moving rooms for genuine reasons.

Housekeeping, accounting, front desk, the founders club, lobby bar are excellent. Service in Penelope, Shuckers and the George have declined.

Disappointed compared to previous stays

Although the overall hotel is amazing my upgraded suite did not meet their usual standards expected. After 2 nights of using an additional fan provided, I had to have a portable AC unit brought in to bring the temp below 74 degrees, the Nespresso machine stopped mid brew, the TV in the sitting area lost signal every 5 to 10 minutes, & the ice machine on my floor did not work.
